Job Purpose Cerberus established our Residential Opportunities investment platform in 2008 to capitalize on opportunities to acquire distressed residential mortgage‑backed securities following the Global Financial Crisis. Over the past decade, our Residential Opportunities platform has continued to build upon its expertise in residential debt and evolved to earn recognition as an innovator and market leader in securitizing performing residential real estate loans and investing in single‑family rental real estate (SFRs).

Our Residential Opportunities strategies seek to maximize absolute return through a combination of capital appreciation and current income, investing primarily in mortgages, loans, and real assets, and leveraging our proprietary asset management platforms to enhance performance and drive value.

As an Analyst at Cerberus Operations and Advisory, you will help the team expand its analytic and modeling capabilities across all aspects of Cerberus’ Residential Real Estate strategy, from analyzing hard asset and capital markets transactions to supporting operational excellence. Using the team’s tailored data, you will be expected to create reports, model asset performance, and support research projects. You will partner with portfolio managers, data scientists, and leaders in our proprietary property management platform to build and execute investment and operational strategies that create value for clients. This role operates within a “start‑up” environment within the Residential Opportunities platform, requiring comfort operating in a fast‑moving, high‑ambiguity environment where priorities shift and many problems will not have a predefined path to solution.

Responsibilities

Data Analysis Expertise:

Analyze structured and unstructured data related to residential real estate, property management, and credit underwriting operations to uncover and display insights that inform investment decisions.

UI and Presentation Design:

Create and support data visualizations via PowerPoint, Python, Tableau, PowerBI.

Strategic Problem Translation:

Translate business scenarios and investment ideas into succinct data problems by identifying and analyzing key drivers. Seamlessly align business objectives with appropriate cost functions, demonstrating an acute understanding of available data nuances.

End-to-End Project Ownership:

Manage the end-to‑end delivery of success criteria, data, algorithms, statistical models, and reporting tools. You will be expected to engage from project inception and work with relevant parties to collect, analyze, and output analysis / models for broad consumption. Work collaboratively within cross‑functional teams to ensure timely and high‑quality deliverables. Your adeptness will ensure efficient problem‑solving and the realization of desired outcomes.

Financial Acumen Development:

Demonstrate a proactive approach to expanding knowledge in investing and real estate fundamentals, leveraging analytical skills to explore market trends and financial concepts.

IT Stack Optimization:

Comfortable setting up and troubleshooting data connections (e.g., Snowflake, APIs, MCPs) and partnering with IT teams to onboard new tools and systems.

Team Synergy:

Collaborate seamlessly with fellow team members, lending your skills to group projects and promoting a cohesive and productive team dynamic.

Flexibility and Initiative:

Thrive in a high‑ambiguity environment where many assignments will be loosely defined, requiring you to independently frame the problem, identify the right approach, and drive to a conclusion without waiting to be directed. Intellectual curiosity and the habit of proactively seeking out answers on your own are essential to success in this role. Interest in AI and exploration of new analytical tools is a strong plus.

Qualifications

1-3 years of work experience with a degree in Engineering, Computer Science, Information Systems, Data Science, Mathematics, or a related quantitative field; candidates with a business, finance, or economics background and strong demonstrated technical skills are also encouraged to apply.

Experience with Python, SQL, Git.

Experience with Azure, Snowflake, PowerBI, Fabric a plus. Otherwise, can learn in the role.

Demonstrated ability to manipulate and summarize large datasets.

Highly motivated with excellent attention to detail and organizational skills.

Strong communication skills with the ability to present findings clearly to both technical and non‑technical audiences, including senior leadership; comfortable translating ambiguous asks into structured analysis and working within a collaborative team environment.

The base salary for this position is expected to be between $115,000.00 and $140,000.00. The base salary offered to the chosen candidate will be commensurate with a candidate’s relevant experience and other qualifications for the position, as determined by the Company in its sole discretion. In addition to base salary, this position is eligible for an annual discretionary bonus, which is often a meaningful portion of the compensation package, and a robust benefits package.
