
Paralegal (Institutional / Investments)

The Role
We are seeking to add a highly motivated and proactive Paralegal who will provide legal support to Lord Abbett’s institutional and investments areas. This individual will work closely with the paralegals and attorneys who support both the institutional and investments teams on various matters. The position requires excellent interpersonal skills, teamwork, and collaboration. The candidate must be a demonstrated self‑starter who is highly organized.
Responsibilities
Assist with reviewing, updating, and tracking various types of agreements, including confidentiality agreements, investor representation letters, trading agreements, and other corporate agreements.
Support new account launches and set up with derivatives trading agreements.
Respond quickly and positively to shifting demands and opportunities, with the ability to work under tight deadlines and handle multiple detailed tasks.
Assist with filing, proofreading, drafting, and coordinating signatures as needed.
Contribute to tasks and team projects autonomously.
Regularly support inquiries and requests from business units, including interfacing with Legal, Risk, Compliance, Tax, Operations, Client Relations and Product Strategy teams.
Coordinate responses to Know Your Customer, Anti‑Money Laundering, and other due diligence requests for Institutional accounts, NHITs, CITs and International Funds.
Support various annual renewals and processes, including insurance.
Support asset recovery efforts by tracking distressed trading language and ad hoc group membership.
Assist with litigation record request and manage record hold orders process.
Perform legal research, analysis, and assist with ad hoc special projects.
Work with various departments to maintain the workflow processing of outside counsel/vendor bills.
Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
2-4 years of experience.
Corporate governance and financial services experience.
Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
High attention to detail.
Strong time management skills, sound judgment and analysis, respect for confidentiality and organization.
The qualities of a self‑starter with excellent problem‑anticipation and -solving skills.
Ability to work well under pressure, adapt to unexpected events, prioritize and multitask in a deadline‑driven environment.
Intellectual curiosity and a willingness to research, ask questions, and develop a deep understanding of new topic areas.
Ability to manage competing priorities.
Compensation & Benefits Annual base salary for this role is $90,000 - $110,000. Salary is estimated for this role. Actual pay may be different.
Discretionary Bonus: Role may be eligible to receive an annual discretionary bonus. Discretionary bonuses are determined by several factors including, but not limited to, firm, team, and individual performance.
