Staff, Experience Researcher – Research Ops

Walmart, Bentonville, AR, United States

Position Summary At Sam’s Club, we’re committed to being the membership you love the most. The Sam's Club Experience Strategy and Innovation team crafts compelling experiences wherever we meet our members and associates—from our clubs to their businesses, and to their homes. We deliver impact for the business through the web, apps, in-club experiences and associate-facing tools.

We're looking for a resourceful self-starter with an operational mindset, a passion for user research, and the ability to build efficient systems in a complex, high-volume environment. If you’re energized by cultivating a culture of experimentation and learning across cross‑functional teams—and by growing the organization's empathy and research capability—we’d love to meet you!

In This Role As a member of the Experience Research team, you’ll wear many hats and build scalable processes from the ground up to ensure the team can run smoothly and focus on generating deep, high‑quality insights.

This is a net‑new role, and the person stepping into it will help define, and continually refine, the operational backbone of our research practice as it grows. Guided by design‑thinking principles, Research Ops will evolve iteratively alongside the team, maturing processes, enabling experimentation at scale, and increasing the impact and visibility of research across the organization.

What you'll do

Research Planning & Portfolio Management: Partner with research leadership to prioritize work, manage backlogs, and ensure visibility across studies and initiatives.

Participant Recruitment & Research Operations: Build and scale systems for participant management, leading end‑to‑end recruitment operations while ensuring strong ethics, privacy, and participant experience standards.

Process Design & Standardization: Develop and maintain research templates, playbooks, and best practices—enabling consistent, high‑quality research and empowering designers to run studies independently.

Tools & Infrastructure: Manage research tools, vendors, and workflows; continuously improve systems to increase efficiency and reduce friction, including exploring GenAI applications.

Insight Management & Storytelling: Establish systems for storing, tagging, and sharing insights, while helping communicate the impact of research across the organization.

Team Enablement & Culture: Support onboarding, team rituals, and capability building—fostering a culture of experimentation, learning, and research excellence.

What you'll bring

Research Operations Expertise: Experience in ResearchOps, DesignOps, UX Research, or a similar role supporting research at scale, with a strong understanding of research methods, recruitment, and experimentation.

Systems Thinking & Structure: Ability to bring clarity to ambiguity by building frameworks, processes, and scalable systems that enable teams to operate effectively.

Cross‑Functional Influence: Strong partnership skills with the ability to collaborate across design, product, engineering, and business teams to drive alignment and adoption of research.

Operational Agility: Comfort working in fast‑paced, evolving environments where processes are not yet fully defined—and a drive to improve them.

Service‑Oriented Mindset: A collaborative, low‑ego approach with a focus on enabling others, fostering learning, and continuously improving how the team works.

Storytelling & Communication: Ability to communicate insights and impact in compelling ways, including presentations or multimedia storytelling.
