Summary Our client is seeking a UX Designer to conduct UX reviews and usability assessments of existing applications and to lead design efforts for both application improvements and a brand-new application being developed as part of a legacy system rewrite. This role will serve as the primary UX advocate within IT, working independently as a sole UX Designer embedded with the IT organization while collaborating closely with product owners, developers, and Scrum masters in an Agile/Scrum environment.

Responsibilities

Conduct UX reviews and usability assessments of existing applications, identify interaction, layout, and workflow issues.

Partner with product owners and technical teams to translate findings into clear design recommendations and prioritized improvements.

Design updated user experiences and screen layouts for targeted pages, balancing near-term improvements with long-term rewrite goals.

Lead UX and UI design efforts for a brand-new application being developed as part of a legacy system rewrite.

Create user flows, wireframes, and high-fidelity designs that clearly communicate intended behavior to development teams.

Requirements

3+ years of UX design experience.

Proven success in conducting UX reviews and audits of existing enterprise applications and proposing actionable design improvements.

Demonstrated ability to design user interfaces for both application rewrites and net-new applications from early concepts through high-fidelity designs.

Strong background in interaction design and information architecture with experience simplifying complex workflows and data-heavy screens.

Experience creating and evolving a lightweight design system or style guide including reusable patterns and components.

Preferred

Ability to work independently as the sole UX Designer embedded within an IT organization, managing priorities across multiple products.

Experience collaborating with product owners, developers, and Scrum masters in an Agile/Scrum environment.

Demonstrated success at translating business requirements and technical constraints into user-centered design solutions.

Comfortable presenting design rationale, trade-offs, and recommendations to technical and non-technical stakeholders.

Contract & Benefits This is an 8-month contract opportunity with our Kansas City, MO client.
