General Information Love creating content? Always spotting a good photo/video moment? Know what’s trending before everyone else? The College of Health and Behavioral Studies is seeking a creative and motivated student to join our team as a Social Media Assistant. In this role, you’ll help tell the story of CHBS by creating dynamic, engaging photo and video content for our social media platforms. This is a great opportunity to build your portfolio while gaining hands‑on experience in content creation, branding, and digital communication.

Duties and Responsibilities
Create compelling photo and video content that highlights CHBS programs, students, and events
Develop social media posts aligned with JMU branding and social media guidelines
Contribute ideas during brainstorming sessions for posts, content series, and campaigns
Communicate professionally with academic units, student organizations, and individuals across CHBS to identify and gather content opportunities
Qualifications
Experience with photography and/or video editing
Familiarity with current social media platforms and trends
Willingness to appear on camera when needed
Comfortable spontaneously approaching and interviewing students, faculty, and staff
Working knowledge of Adobe Creative Cloud (e.g., Photoshop, Premiere Pro, Lightroom)
Ability to manage files using internal platforms (e.g., Teams, Outlook, Trello)
Conditions of Employment Students must be degree‑seeking students, enrolled on at least a half‑time basis (6 credits for undergraduate and 5 credits for graduate).
