Striking Distance Studios is a AAA development studio located in the San Ramon Hills of the San Francisco Bay Area.
We are looking for a Technical Designer to work in a cooperative, cross-disciplinary team environment. This role can work remotely in the US and Canada.
Responsibilities
Design, document, and tune game mechanics, controls, and systems.
Work with Leads, Systems Designers, Animators and Engineers to create compelling gameplay mechanics.
Collaborate with the team to ensure the highest level of quality and to guarantee visibility and alignment.
Fully document design for Engineers, Prop Artists, and Animators. Creatively solve system conflicts and troubleshoot technical limitations.
Balance and tune gameplay to ensure the highest level of player engagement.
Communicate with Production to ensure all deadlines are met.
Work with Design to create tools/workflow enhancements that can benefit the team as a whole through production.
Work with all teams to prototype and prove out the viability of content, whether it be tools or gameplay mechanics.
Qualifications
A minimum of 3+ years in AAA design.
A strong understanding of design principles and combat design.
Professional experience working in UE4/UE5.
Coding experience in Unreal Engine C++.
Very experienced with scripting languages, and visual scripting languages. Blueprint knowledge preferred.
A passion and hunger to make the best games.
Salary In California, the expected salary range for this position is $95,000-$131,000.
