What You’ll Do
As a Mechanical Designer, you’ll support both application engineering and product design, working closely with sales, manufacturing, purchasing, and quality teams to deliver accurate, production-ready designs. Key responsibilities include: Examine and analyze new product applications to determine feasibility of application, operation, and manufacturability Select and integrate mechanical components to meet customer, performance, and code requirements Prepare proposal and manufacturing drawings using SolidWorks, along with Bills of Materials (BOMs) in ERP Develop and maintain production order packages, including quality documentation and updated Installation, Operation & Maintenance manuals Check your own and others’ drawings for accuracy of dimensions, fits, tolerances, and completeness Apply applicable codes and standards such as ASME, IBC, ANSI, ATEX, TEMA, API, UL/CSA, and CE (as required, mechanical scope only) Collaborate with Production, Purchasing, and Manufacturing to ensure designs are optimized for efficient fabrication and assembly Initiate and document Engineering Changes as designs evolve Assist with testing and troubleshooting of products in the shop and, occasionally, in the field Take ownership of all responsibilities associated with a Designer role, while supporting continuous improvement across engineering processes Perform other duties as assigned as business needs evolve What You Bring
Education & Experience Two-year technical degree with applicable experience in mechanical design and application of similar products Five or more years of experience in a technical role with product design responsibilities in an industrial or manufacturing environment Mechanical Design Expertise Static and dynamic mechanical design Material selection for industrial applications Manufacturing processes, including:
Sheet metal Machining Welding Assembly and quality considerations
Ability to perform calculations required to meet structural and/or ASME code requirements Understanding of basic flow diagrams, pressure systems, and pneumatic concepts Skills & Attributes Proficiency with 3D CAD (SolidWorks), ERP systems, and Microsoft Office Strong attention to detail—ensuring designs are accurate, serviceable, cost-effective, and complete for manufacturing Ability to read, interpret, and create clear, production-ready drawings and documentation Strong organizational and time-management skills; able to plan work and meet deadlines Effective written and verbal communication skills Proven initiative, self-direction, and creative problem-solving ability Comfortable checking others’ work and providing constructive technical feedback Ownership & Culture Fit
