Job Overview
A growing consulting engineering firm in Charlotte, NC is seeking a Mechanical Designer with 2–3 years of experience to support commercial building projects. This role offers the opportunity to collaborate closely with mechanical engineers on HVAC system design and construction documentation across a variety of building types. Key Responsibilities
Develop mechanical design drawings and construction documents for commercial building projects.
Assist with HVAC system design, including ductwork, piping layouts, and equipment selection under engineer guidance.
Create, modify, and maintain drawings using Revit (AutoCAD as needed).
Coordinate design efforts with architectural, structural, and electrical teams.
Participate in QA/QC processes to ensure accuracy, constructability, and code compliance.
Incorporate markups, redlines, and field feedback into design documents.
Support permitting and construction‑phase documentation as required.
Required Qualifications
2–3 years of experience as a Mechanical Designer or HVAC Designer.
Experience working on commercial building projects (office, healthcare, education, mixed‑use).
Proficiency in Revit for mechanical design.
Working knowledge of HVAC systems, ductwork, and mechanical layouts.
Strong attention to detail and ability to thrive in a team‑oriented environment.
Preferred Qualifications
Associate’s degree or technical training in drafting, engineering technology, or a related field.
Familiarity with mechanical codes and industry standards.
Exposure to load calculations, energy modeling, or equipment scheduling.
Experience working within an MEP consulting or engineering firm.
Work Environment and Schedule This position offers a hybrid schedule with two days per week remote, and an office conveniently located just outside Uptown Charlotte, NC. Employees enjoy exposure to a wide range of project types, creating a dynamic, engaging, and growth‑oriented work environment.
Job Type & Location Permanent position based out of Charlotte, NC.
Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $60,000 – $80,000 per year.
