VP, Asset Management Functional area: Finance / Controlling; Operations & Maintenance; Project Management

RWE Americas' Asset Management department is accountable for the commercial success of a 13+ GW portfolio of renewable energy assets including wind, solar, and battery storage located throughout North America. Through close collaboration with Operations & Maintenance, Engineering and various Financial stakeholders, the team drives tactical and strategic initiatives optimizing the performance of all assets.

The

VP, Asset Management

will be responsible for a portfolio spanning California, Nevada and Arizona and comprised of 50 solar and storage assets (~4GWs) with multiple Asset Managers reporting directly to the position.

Role Responsibilities

Sets the vision, culture, and strategic roadmap for Asset Management across the West region (AZ, CA, NV)

Serves as the key executive responsible for the commercial success of the regional operating fleet

Aligns regional asset management with company-wide objectives including ESG goals, capital planning, and risk posture

Oversees budget planning and strategic resource allocation for asset management and related cross-functional initiatives

Drives innovation in data systems, predictive analytics, and lifecycle planning to enhance long‑term performance

Represents the business externally with partners, regulators, and the Board on asset strategy, operations, and performance

Fosters a high‑performance culture, mentoring and developing leaders and advancing organizational capabilities

Job Requirements and Experiences

Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration, Engineering, Finance, Mathematics or related field required

Master’s degree or advanced degree in related field preferred

Minimum 15 years’ experience managing large-scale commercial assets in the renewable energy sector (solar, wind, battery storage)

At least 5 years in a senior leadership role, leading a team and/or business function

Deep understanding of energy market dynamics, SCADA systems, data analytics tools and multi‑technology portfolios

Commercial acumen and experience with PPA compliance and financial modeling

Industry thought‑leader with authoritative knowledge of asset management trends, market dynamics, and regulatory impacts

Shapes company‑wide strategy for portfolio performance, aligning asset performance with corporate growth and investment strategies

Sets enterprise risk management approach for asset portfolio

Serves as departmental expert voice in executive‑level discussions, investor meetings, and policy engagement

Shapes public and industry perception of company asset strategy

Leads Asset Management for RWE Americas’ West region portfolio

Accountable for full operating fleet’s commercial and operational performance

Builds and sustains strategic relationships with regulators, utilities, and strategic partners in the region

Represents company in senior‑level regulatory and market forums

Strong interpersonal skills, with ability to manage customer relationships

Strong leadership and communication, and ability to meet deadlines

Strong organizational skills and ability to coordinate multiple tasks and deliverables

Motivated self‑starter, goal‑oriented, and strong problem‑solving abilities

Is detail‑oriented, has strong business acumen, and a sound understanding of business and financial concepts

This position is an office‑based role with some travel and visits to other RWE Americas offices and field locations

Must be able to sit, walk, or stand for long durations of time

Pay range The annual base salary range for this position in California or Illinois is $190,000 - $250,000. The listed salary range represents our good faith estimate for this position and represents the range for new hire salaries across all U.S. locations.
