
Low Voltage Estimator

The Low Voltage / Structured Cabling Estimator is responsible for preparing accurate and comprehensive cost estimates for structured cabling and integrated technology system projects. This role requires in-depth knowledge of TIA/EIA standards, fiber infrastructure, and telecommunications systems.
Responsibilities
Structured Cabling (Cat6, Fiber Optic, Backbone Infrastructure)
Network Infrastructure
Security Systems (Access Control, CCTV, Intrusion)
Audio-Visual Systems
Paging & Intercom
Nurse Call
Cellular Enhancement / DAS
Perform material take-offs and labor modeling.
Proposal Preparation
Prepare scope narratives, budgets, and proposal documentation.
Collaborate with sales and operations to align pricing with project goals.
Project Analysis and Risk Assessment
Identify scope gaps and cost exposures.
Protect margin through strategic pricing and risk evaluation.
Vendor and Supplier Coordination
Solicit and evaluate supplier and subcontractor pricing.
Maintain current knowledge of market trends, pricing fluctuations, and new products.
Client Communication
Clarify project scope and technical requirements with clients.
Address client queries and concerns in a professional and timely manner.
Set expectations and over communicate all client matters
Compliance and Standards Adherence
Ensure all estimations and project plans comply with industry standards, BICSI guidelines, local codes, and TIA/EIA standards.
Documentation and Reporting
Keep accurate records of estimates, bids, and client communications.
Generate reports and analyses for internal use and client presentations.
KPI’S: Annual Sales, Submitted Bids, Win Percentage
Qualifications
Strong analytical and mathematical skills.
Excellent communication and negotiation abilities.
Detail-oriented with a focus on accuracy and quality.
Capable of managing multiple projects and deadlines effectively.
Educational/Vocational Requirements
Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Telecommunications, or related field.
5+ years of experience in structured cabling or low voltage estimation or a related role.
Proficiency in estimation software and Microsoft Office Suite
