Underwriter, Reinsurance Property Facultative

Overview For assigned lines of business, the Property Facultative Underwriter will underwrite and maintain profitable new and renewal business. They will exercise self-supported judgment based on comprehensive knowledge of policy form terms, conditions, and coverage intent, while increasing market share and ensuring excellent service to internal and external customers.

Responsibilities

Underwrite and produce individual risk accounts with specific production/premium annual goals.

Maintain client and broker contacts and relationships as appropriate.

Contribute to the individual risk audit process and manage individual risk T&E expenditures in coordination with the Territory Manager.

Develop a personal P&D plan in coordination with the Property Facultative leadership team.

Assist with individual risk division training and new hire onboarding.

Underwrite terms and conditions, establish pricing for new and renewal property facultative business by gathering, reviewing, and analyzing account information.

Achieve consistent satisfactory internal and external audit results by adhering to underwriting guidelines, regulatory, and rating guidelines.

Communicate effectively with underwriting, actuarial, legal, underwriting service department, and claims staff to ensure account profitability.

Maintain and service a book of business by analyzing endorsement requests, participating in large loss and customer account meetings, and providing high-quality customer service to brokers and cedants.

Participate in strategic planning and implementation of business development activities, including identifying key brokers and markets, marketing to external brokers and cedants, completing action plans, and accompanying other underwriters on broker/client visits as needed.

Work effectively in a team setting, contributing to the creation and sustaining of a high-performance team by embracing and understanding team and unit goals.

Implement actions to improve performance and efficiency.

Qualifications

Moderate experience in the insurance industry with an emphasis on commercial property insurance/reinsurance.

Proficiency in policy rating systems and familiarity with policy and contract wording.

Strong math aptitude and outstanding PC skills.

Detail-oriented, accurate, organized, and flexible, with excellent verbal and written communication skills and interpersonal skills.

Ability to apply creative, analytical, and mathematical skills to problem solving.

Self-directed, customer-focused, responsive, and capable of multi-tasking in a fast-paced environment.

Team-oriented with a consistent commitment to excellence.

Reporting You will report to the Property Facultative Individual Risk Territory Manager.

Salary and Benefits U.S. base salary range: USD 119,500-199,100. Actual compensation will be determined based on skills, experience, and location.
