UX/UI Web Designer
Prolific Digital, Louisville, KY, United States
Overview
Prolific Digital is a boutique creative web design and branding studio built around work that matters—nonprofits, municipalities, and brands both big and small. We're a small, intentional team. We don't take on clients just to fill a roster, and we don't hire just to fill a seat. The work is real, the craft is serious, and the people we bring on take pride in both. We're looking for a UX/UI designer who can make something that stops people in their tracks—and explain exactly why every decision works. The work we do has to be visually stunning and strategically sound. We don't trade one for the other. What you'll do
Design & prototyping Design web experiences across a range of client projects—nonprofits, municipalities, and brands of all sizes Own UX architecture from discovery through handoff: user flows, wireframes, and high-fidelity mockups in Figma Bring motion and micro-interactions into the work where they genuinely improve communication—not as decoration Bring a strong visual sensibility to every project—typography, color, layout, and motion that feels intentional and brand-considered, not just functional Build and maintain component libraries and design systems that developers can actually work with Accessibility & responsive design Treat accessibility and responsive design as foundational requirements, not afterthoughts—WCAG compliance is a baseline expectation here, not a checklist item Design with real devices and real users in mind across every breakpoint Critical thinking & documentation Break down complex UX, integration, and systems challenges into clear, considered design solutions Articulate strategy clearly to clients, developers, and stakeholders—your words should be as precise as your designs Present and defend design decisions with confidence; surface problems early and come with a point of view What we're looking for
3+ years of UX/UI design experience, ideally on web-focused projects. Fluency with AI tools isn't a nice-to-have here—it's central to how we work. We're looking for someone who actively uses AI to think faster, design smarter, and push the work further. Figma proficiency is still required—component libraries, auto-layout, prototyping, handoff-ready files—but the designers who will thrive here are the ones treating AI as a core part of their creative process, not an occasional shortcut. You have a demonstrated ability to apply motion and micro-interactions with intention, and critical thinking that goes well beyond visual storytelling. You can map a broken flow, simplify a cluttered system, or design around a hard technical constraint—and then write clearly about how and why you did it. You communicate directly. Documentation isn't an afterthought—it's part of how you think and how you communicate with developers, clients, and teammates. A strong portfolio is required—we want to see web projects specifically: live URLs, responsive layouts, and components in context, not just mockups. You can walk a client through the strategy behind a design decision, not just the aesthetic. You're organized without being precious about your work, and you take feedback as a tool rather than a threat. Louisville-based with the ability to work hybrid is required. Familiarity with or genuine interest in nonprofit, civic, or public-sector work is a plus—it's a meaningful part of what we do. What success looks like in 60 days
Clients understand the strategy behind what they're seeing—not just the look of it. The development team has everything they need to build without guessing. Your documentation is clear enough that someone new could pick up a project and know exactly where it stands and why decisions were made. You've taken ownership of your work without needing to be managed, and you've raised the bar for how the team communicates design. What you won't find here
Layers of management, bloated processes, or work that exists to look busy. We move quickly, trust each other, and take pride in doing thoughtful work for clients who care. If you need every decision handed to you, this probably isn't the right fit. If you do your best work with real ownership and room to think—this is it. Full-time salary range:
$60,000—$80,000 , based on experience. Benefits
Health, dental, and vision insurance—100% company paid 401(k) with 5% company match (eligible after year one) 2 weeks paid company closure at the end of the year 11 federal holidays off Flex time off Hybrid—Louisville, KY based required Base salary ($60,000—$80,000) + health, dental & vision coverage (~$10,000 value) + paid time off including 2 weeks vacation, 2 weeks company closure, and 11 federal holidays (~$7,000—$9,000 value). If you feel like you are the right fit—we would love to hear from you.
