Founded in 2003 through the merger of two Indiana tech associations, TechPoint is the nonprofit, industry‑led growth initiative driving Indiana’s digital economy and broader tech ecosystem. Since 2006, it has operated under the umbrella of Central Indiana Corporate Partnership (CICP), functioning as the strategic hub that connects public, private, academic, and philanthropic partners. Today TechPoint is striving to make Indiana a leader in digital adoption.
Based in Indianapolis at 16 Tech, TechPoint’s mission is to drive Indiana's digital economy through talent, innovation and community— expanding the tech talent pipeline, accelerating startup and enterprise growth, enhancing resource connectivity, and elevating the state’s tech community through collaboration and storytelling.
ROLE OVERVIEW TechPoint’s Growth & Engagement Manager is a hybrid, relationship‑driven contributor responsible for both managing engagement across a defined portfolio of startups and small businesses and generating new pipeline opportunities for the Engagement team.
This role is intentionally structured as a 50/50 split between account management and business development. The individual will serve as the primary relationship manager for assigned companies while also acting as a Business Development Representative (BDR) to prospect, qualify and generate leads across TechPoint’s broader membership and sponsorship strategy.
This individual will actively identify, pursue and qualify new opportunities through outbound outreach, networking and research. At the same time, they will steward existing relationships by understanding partner needs, connecting organizations to the right programs and ensuring consistent engagement and value delivery.
The Hybrid Engagement Manager is expected to operate with a modern, data‑driven mindset, using Salesforce to manage pipelines, track engagement and surface insights. The role will also leverage AI tools to improve efficiency in prospecting, outreach and relationship management.
This is a full‑time, exempt position that will report to the Vice President of Marketing and Engagement. Some travel within Indiana will be necessary. This position does not have any direct reports. The role is expected to independently manage a complex portfolio of partner relationships, apply judgment in identifying and advancing high‑value opportunities, and contribute insights that help inform engagement and growth strategies.
RESPONSIBILITIES Engagement & Account Management (50%)
Manage and grow relationships with a defined portfolio of startups and small to mid‑size businesses
Drive participation in TechPoint programs including Xtern, Xtern Challenge and community convenings
Conduct regular check‑ins to understand company needs and connect them to relevant opportunities
Support retention by ensuring strong partner experience and consistent value delivery
Track engagement activity and outcomes in Salesforce and analyze engagement trends to identify risks, opportunities, and recommended actions
Business Development & Pipeline Generation (50%)
Prospect and identify new companies aligned with TechPoint’s membership and sponsorship strategy
Conduct outbound outreach to generate qualified leads
Qualify opportunities and schedule meetings for senior Engagement team members
Maintain a healthy pipeline in Salesforce and contribute to revenue goals
Collaborate with marketing to align campaigns with outreach efforts
Develop a strong understanding of Indiana’s tech ecosystem
Represent TechPoint at events, networking opportunities and community engagements
Support marketing efforts including storytelling and thought leadership
Use data, market intelligence, and partner feedback to help refine outreach strategies, prioritization, and engagement approaches
Identify patterns and themes across partner interactions and communicate actionable insights to the Engagement team
Support TechPoint initiatives and other duties as assigned.
REQUIREMENTS
5-7 years of experience in account management, partnerships, sales or business development
Experience prospecting and generating leads
Strong written and verbal communication skills
Experience using CRM systems, preferably Salesforce
Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast‑paced environment
Ability to analyze engagement and pipeline data and translate insights into action
Demonstrated ability to manage partner relationships and business development efforts with a high degree of independence and judgment
