Substation Physical Engineer We are looking for a Substation Physical Engineer to join our team. As a Career Substation Physical Engineer, you will work on projects for electric utilities ranging from 12 kV up to 500 kV. You will apply knowledge of digital logic design, AC and DC circuits to design substation electrical projects and support the entire development lifecycle.

Hybrid Work Schedule

4 days of in‑person connection (office or on‑site)

Remaining days remote

Participation in networking events, training, and conferences as part of continuous development

Responsibilities

Execute substation physical projects at various voltages.

Perform quality control checks on substation physical design projects.

Read and design substation physical drawings such as one‑line drawings, three‑line drawings, plan‑section drawings, foundation, and grounding drawings.

Create and verify bill of materials for substation physical projects.

Attend site visits at customer locations.

What Sets You Apart

Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering or related field; 2+ years of substation physical design experience.

Experience with grounding studies, lightning protection, and lighting studies.

Excellent communication skills to interact with internal team and clients.

Ability to meet deadlines under high‑pressure situations.

Collaborator and leader capable of working effectively in a team environment.

Self‑starter capable of working independently with minimal direction.

Strong analytical skills and proven problem‑solving ability.

High level of computer competency.

Willingness to travel to project and/or client sites.

You Might Also Have

Engineer Intern (EI) or Engineer in Training (EIT) professional certification.

Professional Engineer (PE) license.

Working knowledge of protection and control design.

Experience with bus calculation.

Experience with WinIGS or CDEGS.

Master’s degree in related field.
