Product Lifecycle Manager - Wayside Systems

Day‑to‑Day Responsibilities Product Strategy & Roadmap

Own long‑term (7–10 year) product roadmaps aligned to business cases, customer needs, market demand, and approved ADC budgets.

Drive cross‑FPS alignment on roadmap priorities and strategic direction.

Revenue Growth & Sales Enablement

Develop product‑level sales strategies to achieve revenue and margin targets.

Partner with Sales to validate willingness to pay and support forecasts with clear assumptions.

Risk Management & Product Health

Manage portfolio risk, including obsolescence, end‑of‑life planning, and manufacturing impacts.

Ensure alignment with railroad requirements, cybersecurity (including Subpart H), and quality standards.

Drive cost reduction initiatives and reduce warranty (NCC) costs.

Customer Engagement & Market Leadership

Support customer engagements, field testing, trade shows, and sales efforts.

Lead structured customer feedback and market intelligence activities.

Establish market leadership through industry participation, presentations, and publications.

Competitive & Market Intelligence

Maintain competitive product reviews, SWOT analyses, and market trend assessments.

New Product Introduction & Innovation

Lead URS development and NPI execution, including pilots, cutovers, and training.

Ensure readiness of all sales and marketing materials.

Drive innovation through partnerships, private labeling, or acquisition opportunities.

Proactively manage product end‑of‑life decisions.

Operational Excellence & Governance

Implement work with clear ownership, accountability, and disciplined follow‑through.

Lead structured meetings and maintain required lifecycle artifacts.

Contribute to a high‑performance, safety‑focused, collaborative culture.

Qualifications and Requirements

Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or a related technical subject area.

Deep technical expertise within product scope, with the ability to confidently guide technical, commercial, and customer decisions.

Demonstrated product lifecycle management expertise, recognized as a trusted subject‑matter expert.

Strong commercial and sales partnership skills, effectively positioning value to drive revenue and margin growth.

Proven ability to implement with rigor, including clear requirements, documented decisions, accountability, and follow‑through.

Creative and innovative thinker who identifies differentiated product solutions and new business opportunities.

High level of ownership and drive, delivering measurable business results with urgency.

Safety‑first approach, proactively identifying and mitigating technical, regulatory, and operational risks.

Strong collaboration and humility, valuing diverse perspectives and continuous learning.

Willingness to travel 25%–50% domestically during peak periods.

Yearly Salary: $150,000 – $200,000. Commission: 15%
