Estimators in this role support mission‑critical data center programs and complex commercial installations across North America. These projects typically involve hyperscale campuses, enterprise facilities, and highly coordinated MEP (mechanical, electrical, plumbing) environments where prefabrication, structural support systems, and installation sequencing are critical to project success. This position plays a direct role in shaping the quality and profitability of Atkore‑Unistrut Construction’s project backlog. The Estimator ensures that every proposal reflects executable field strategy, disciplined cost modeling, and accurate risk evaluation.
Day‑to‑Day Responsibilities
Preparing detailed cost estimates for modular, off‑site fabricated, and site‑installed packages.
Performing quantity takeoffs, scope validation, and constructability reviews.
Supporting opportunity selection and bid
o‑bid analysis.
Develop labor, material, logistics, and subcontract pricing strategies.
Identifying risks, exclusions, and scope gaps during bid reviews.
Build cost models aligning fabrication capacity and installation sequencing.
Collaborate with project management to ensure smooth handoff to execution.
What you’ll bring:
Construction Management or Engineering Related bachelor’s degree or 3‑5 years of experience in an estimating role within the construction industry.
Commercial, Steel Structure and Data Center experience is a plus.
Strong verbal and written communications skills.
Experience using Microsoft Office, Bluebeam, Procore and AutoCAD.
Demonstrable problem solving and trouble shooting skills.
Ability to work effectively in a team environment.
Excellent organizational and time management skills.
Within 3 Months, You’ll:
Complete the Atkore immersion program and understand the Atkore Business System and Lean principles in Construction.
Develop a working knowledge of our customer’s needs, Atkore’s strategic priorities and specific customer programs.
Build strong relationships with Project Management, Supply Chain, and Operations teams.
Successfully support at least one major bid submission.
Gain understanding of fabrication and installation capabilities.
Within 6 Months, You’ll:
Lead estimates independently from opportunity review through executive approval.
Demonstrate ability to identify risk exposure and margin protection opportunities.
Build trusted working relationships with field leadership and supply chain partners.
Improve estimate accuracy through structured post‑award feedback loops.
Within 12 Months, You’ll:
Consistently support delivery of awarded backlog aligned to margin expectations.
Contribute to improved bid hit rate and pricing discipline.
Support expansion into new verticals or geographies through scalable estimating processes.
Be viewed internally as a trusted commercial partner to Pre‑Construction and Operations.
Preferred Qualifications
Mission‑critical estimating experience (Data Centers, Healthcare, Complex Commercial).
Ability to price prefabricated construction with fabrication‑to‑field integration.
Experience building execution‑ready estimates with structured BOMs and labor build‑ups.
Understanding of mechanical support installation and MEP coordination environments.
Experience using Bluebeam, Salesforce CRM, ERP systems (JDE or similar).
Experience applying estimate‑vs‑actual analysis and lessons learned processes.
Exposure to Lean Construction principles and disciplined estimating environment

As of the date of this posting, a good faith estimate of the current pay for this position is $ 60,480 - $83,160 . Placement in the range depends on several factors including, but not limited to, specific competencies, relevant education, qualifications, certifications, relevant experience, skills, seniority, performance, shift, travel requirements, and business or organizational needs and may change over time. Other compensation may include, but not limited to, overtime, shift differentials, bonuses, commissions, stock, and other incentives.
