Overview
We’re seeking a thoughtful and media-savvy
Account Executive
to join our fast-growing Sports & Lifestyle practice. This hybrid role is based out of our New York City or Los Angeles office. The ideal candidate has proven experience working with sports leagues, teams, blue chip brand sponsors, talent, or transferrable experience from other sectors and thrives in a fast‑paced and results‑driven environment.
Primary Responsibilities
Support proactive media outreach efforts with development and distribution of compelling pitches and press materials
Cultivate and maintain strong relationships with journalists, influencers, and creators across traditional and digital platforms
Staff and moderate media interviews
Stay on top of media trends, reporter moves, and pop culture moments for rapid‑response pitching
Demonstrate excellent writing skills – press releases, creative pitches, media audits and reporting, strategic recommendations, briefing documents, etc.
Continuously collaborate cross‑functionally with internal teams, clients and vendors on day‑to‑day needs, including managing up with senior staff
Support the development and execution of account strategy, ensuring alignment with client business goals
Translate client insights, industry trends, and competitor intelligence into thoughtful strategic recommendations
Support the planning and execution of media activations, celebrity and partner‑led events, and national campaigns
Effectively manage up to senior leadership, including proactively anticipating needs and identifying solutions to problems before they escalates
Contribute to client strategy plans and documents including outlining specific goals, tactics, timelines, etc. in partnership with account leads
Support account administration and delivery of clear and polished reports, recaps, and notifications to client teams
Guide and mentor junior staff, including associates, ensuring clear communication and roles and responsibilities
Lead by example in fostering a collaborative and inclusive team environment
What You Need to Have (Education + Experience Requirements)
2-3 years of experience in a public relations agency or similar position, working with sports and/or entertainment clients (at least 2 years in a full‑time capacity)
Ability to prioritize multiple assignments without sacrificing work quality; detail‑focused, organized, and deadline‑oriented with strong time management skills
Proficient media writing skills and thorough understanding of media relations, including emerging media (pitching, writing releases, and ability to find creative angles)
Growing media rolodex and proven track record of fostering strong relationships with journalists to generate meaningful earned media coverage
Superior oral and written communication skills, including excellent eye for consistency and proofreading skills
Basic understanding of media reporting and analytics, with the ability to interpret results and merchandise highlights
Maintain a professional, client‑ready demeanor and presence; keep a high standard of etiquette in all communications and interactions
Comprehensive understanding of Microsoft Office Suite and proficiency with Muck Rack, Cision, TV Eyes, Meltwater, Podchaser and other database + monitoring tools
Flexibility to work outside standard business hours as needed, including select weekends, holidays, and occasional travel
Bachelor’s degree in communications, public relations, journalism, English, marketing, or a related field preferred
Must be able to be in our New York or Los Angeles office (hybrid schedule)
Bonus Skills (Preferred, Not Required)
Experience working with non‑traditional media (i.e. Substack, podcasts, social‑first outlets) and content creators on earned coverage
Experience supporting communications workflows, operations, and onsite media at major sporting and cultural events (Super Bowl, NBA All‑Star, NYFW, US Open, The Masters, etc.)
Salary: $55,000-65,000
