In this role, you’ll help shape our
onboarding experience , designing solutions that make every member’s start at Hinge Health effortless, motivating, and personalized. You’ll collaborate with cross‑functional teams to create intuitive, user‑centered solutions from concept to execution, including user research, interaction/UI design, and prototypes that evolve our member experience forward while driving towards our key business goals.

What You’ll Accomplish
Drive the vision and strategy for member onboarding
Define both long‑term and near‑term vision for the member onboarding experience that feels curated, informative, and effortless—while directly advancing key business and health outcome goals.
Design highly personalized, habit‑forming experiences
Leverage member input, behavioral insights, and data signals to create tailored onboarding journeys that help members build sustainable healthy habits and maximize outcomes across diverse personas.
Deliver a world‑class product experience that scales
Apply modern UI, thoughtful UX, and engaging motion design to create intuitive, high‑quality experiences. Develop scalable patterns and contribute to shared systems that elevate design consistency across the organization.
Enable successful program launches through strong design principles
Provide hands‑on design leadership for new program onboarding flows. Establish clear principles, share learnings, and ensure cohesive end‑to‑end experiences across launches.
Collaborate smoothly across teams and platforms
Partner closely with Product, Engineering, Data, Clinical, and Operations teams to deliver integrated onboarding experiences on app with native mobile best practices.
Influence product direction and drive leadership alignment
Form clear perspectives on onboarding flow grounded in user insights. Communicate ideas effectively through storytelling and visualization to shape product direction and secure leadership buy‑in.
Champion quality, accessibility, and inclusion
Ensure onboarding experiences are accessible, inclusive, and thoughtfully designed to support members with diverse abilities, backgrounds, and needs.
Basic Qualifications
Design craft mastery: Expertise in interaction and visual design, with a track record of advancing the craft and inspiring excellence across teams.
Strategic problem‑solving: Experience leading ambiguous problem spaces, setting vision, and defining design strategy across products or platforms.
Data‑informed design: Proficient in forming hypotheses, running A/B or multivariate tests, facilitating user research, and leveraging data science insights to optimize experiences.
Influence and communication: Highly effective communicator with the ability to align teams and influence senior stakeholders around design direction.
Mentorship and team development: Demonstrated success mentoring designers and elevating the overall quality and impact of team output.
Prototyping and innovation: Deep prototyping skills used to drive product alignment, experimentation, and innovation.
System‑level design thinking: Expertise in scalable flows, component design, and building cohesive design systems.
Research synthesis and strategic insight: Fluency in synthesizing research and data, translating insights into actionable, strategic design opportunities.

Experience designing consumer‑facing onboarding experiences: Strong ability to identify patterns and mechanics that drive onboarding rate and early‑stage retention.
Proven facilitation skills: Track record of running pillar‑ or org‑level workshops to align cross‑functional partners on large, complex initiatives and move teams toward clear decisions.
Executive‑level influence: Skilled in facilitating executive meetings, guiding conversations, framing decisions, and ensuring proper validation and checkpoints before moving forward.
Motion design expertise: Rich experience using animation to communicate status transitions, highlight achievements, and add delight through new programs or features.
AI curiosity and innovation: Actively explores emerging tools, such as Cursor, to accelerate design deployment and learning.
Design innovation: Excited to redefine spaces with novel and delightful ideas, drawing inspiration from unexpected sources.
Multimedia mastery: Proficient across mobile, desktop, wearables, and other interfaces, delivering seamless experiences.

Benefits & Compensation
Salary: $195,000 – $292,000 per year.
Hybrid work model in San Francisco: employees are required to be in the office 3 days per week.
