Assets Protection Specialist

Starting pay range: $25.00 - $27.00 per hour. Full pay range: $25.00 - $42.50 per hour. Eligible team members may receive benefits including health, vision, dental, life insurance, 401(k), employee discount, short‑term and long‑term disability, paid sick leave, national holidays, and vacation.

About Assets Protection The Assets Protection (AP) teams help keep guests, team members, and the brand secure, mitigating shortage risks and preventing theft and fraud. AP teams work with store leaders, public safety officials, and law enforcement to protect product availability and the store environment.

Responsibilities

Use surveillance and intelligence‑led tactics to keep team members and guests safe while reducing shortage.

Monitor guests using Target’s video surveillance system and identify potential theft risks.

Implement AP practices and routines to reduce and prevent shortage.

Document cases effectively and properly.

Identify strategic resolutions of external theft and fraud, and conduct apprehensions when required.

Create an easy, inspiring, and friendly guest experience: greet, assist with locating items, resolve issues, and thank guests.

Support total store sales and guest service by ensuring product availability.

Respond to security incidents and submit appropriate documentation per AP policy.

Promote a physical security culture and provide training on safe practices.

Maintain positive work relationships with public safety officials and law enforcement.

Participate in legal proceedings as necessary to represent Target’s interests.

Perform additional duties as needed by business requirements.

Desired Skills & Qualifications

At least 18 years of age.

High school diploma or equivalent.

Meet state or local licensure and other legal requirements.

Welcoming and helpful attitude toward guests and team members.

Ability to communicate on multiple frequency devices and operate handheld scanners and technology equipment.

Excellent communication skills.

Ability to work independently and within a team.

Strong workload management and prioritization.

Composure in a fast‑paced, physically demanding environment.

Flexibility to work a variable schedule, including nights, weekends, holidays, and peak times.

Basic Physical & Work Requirements

Climb up and down ladders.

Apprehend subjects in accordance with company policy.

Move merchandise efficiently and safely, including lifting up to 40 pounds.

Work in varied temperatures, humidity, and other environments.

Remain mobile for the duration of the shift.
