Field Sales Application Specialist, QC Microbiology

Your Role The BioMonitoring business field of MilliporeSigma is seeking a Field Sales Application Specialist to support the growth strategy of the pharmaceutical sector. The role requires consistently achieving sales targets and submitting accurate forecasts.

The specialist will collaborate with client quality assurance, quality control, purchasing, and planning teams, and internal partners such as Field Marketing, Technology Specialists, Sales Support, and Technical Service to maintain a high level of customer satisfaction.

Key responsibilities include delivering presentations in strategy and business review meetings, managing a territory in Massachusetts, New Hampshire, and Vermont, and proactively pursuing sales opportunities for microbial limits, bioburden, sterility testing, environmental monitoring, rapid microbial detection, and mycoplasma technologies.

Daily travel within the territory and approximately 25% overnight travel for training, conferences, and trade shows. Work from home when not traveling.

Who You Are Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in any field of study.

3+ years of sales experience and/or technical experience in the life sciences market.

Preferred Qualifications

Strong sales competency, including relationship building, call planning, territory development, follow‑up, and closing skills.

Experience within pharmaceutical development or technology implementation.

Familiarity with GMP validation, quality control processes, and manufacturing of pharmaceutical products.

Experience preparing and implementing tactical business plans at territory and account levels.

Ability to establish relationships at all appropriate account levels to close the sales process.

Detail‑oriented with excellent organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills.

Ability to communicate information appropriate to the audience level.

Relevant business acumen in the Pharmaceutical & Biotech market.

Demonstrated proficiency with Microsoft Office.

Knowledge of supply chain procurement processes.

Ability to work in a matrixed organization, inspiring teamwork to achieve results.

Technical competency in product knowledge, application, positioning, and competitive environment in the Microbiology discipline (focus on bioburden, environmental monitoring, and sterility).

Experience with databases and tools such as Salesforce, SAP, Foundry, ShowPad.

Compensation and Benefits Base Pay Range: $66,900–$124,400. Position may be eligible for sales or performance‑based bonuses. Details of benefits will be provided during the hiring process.
