Overview

Mercana is seeking a self-employed independent sales representative to represent Mercana Furniture & Décor to a portfolio of retail storefront accounts within a designated geographic region. The Representative is a furniture and home décor professional with a proven ability to cultivate and maintain highly productive sales relationships across a broad range of different retail formats and ensure that Mercana’s customers are highly engaged and satisfied. Mercana offers a competitive commission program and growth incentives. Location

Flexible. Independent Sales Representative should be based within South Florida and be able to travel and service accounts throughout the region. Responsibilities

Sales:

Meet or exceed sales budgets and metrics within a designated geographic region (territory). Sales:

Develop the right solution for the customers’ evolving business requirements with a customer first approach. Sales:

Attend Trade Shows and build productive trust-infused relationships with new and existing buyers in specified territory. Sales:

Travel to visit key customers and to prospective customers throughout the territory as required to secure business and develop relationships. Sales Growth & Business Development:

Identify and pursue new retail business opportunities within the territory. Sales Growth & Business Development:

Regularly reach out and engage with prospective accounts within the territory with the objective of consistently expanding the customer base. Sales Growth & Business Development:

Analyze market trends, competitor activities, and customer demands to develop strategies for increasing sales. Customer Engagement:

Understands the unique needs and preferences of each customer including business issues, communications needs, buying motives and cadence. Customer Engagement:

Build trust, loyalty and solid long-term relationships with key decision makers. Customer Engagement:

Engages in collaboratively building product strategies with customers that contributes to sales growth and also to product and inventory planning. Represent Mercana:

Represents Mercana Furniture and Décor in a professional manner with a positive attitude and strong work ethic. Represent Mercana:

Demonstrates strong knowledge and expertise in products and categories and the overall market. Represent Mercana:

Becomes familiar with Mercana’s operational processes and systems and reporting and help support customers around these processes and systems and collaborates closely with operations team to ensure the seamless processing of orders, claims and other customer issues. Represent Mercana:

Prepares sales plans and quotation data reports on a monthly basis. Qualifications

Required: 8 to 10 years in the furniture or home décor industry Required: Minimum 2 years working as an independent (self-employed) representative. Previous experience in wholesale distribution, product sales, logistics and/or ocean shipping preferred. A customer-service oriented individual who is familiar with retail and retail buying decision making. Ability to travel with the territory to visit key customers and to tradeshows when required. A highly motivated self-starter with a high level of attention to detail. A valid drivers license and a reliable vehicle.
