Underwriter I

Overview
This underwriting position is designed for an individual with 2+ years of E&S (excess & surplus lines experience) writing small to medium hazard property & casualty package insurance. Knowledge of ISO coverage forms. Individual account underwriting is required for hazard analysis, rating, pricing, and form selection. This position is hybrid out of our Scottsdale, AZ office.
Responsibilities
A minimum of two (2) plus years of E&S experience.
Knowledge of industry standard company forms to properly underwrite risk.
Write and retain a profitable book of business through solid risk analysis, pricing, and servicing; adhere to corporate underwriting and pricing guidelines; operate within written authority grant and make referrals to Home Office Underwriting as required.
Collaborate closely with the E&S Management team.
Develop and implement the territory business plan and share accountability with the team in meeting territory goals.
Actively plan and participate in industry events as required, such as association conventions.
Provide professional, timely and courteous communication and service to external clients and cross‑departmental staff.
Provide pertinent information and guidance to support staff required to process coverage requests in accordance with service guidelines.
Qualifications
CPCU, ASLI or CIC designation preferred, or the equivalent combination of education and experience.
Demonstrated experience with commercial casualty insurance coverage and risk selection, methods, and pricing.
Demonstrated ability to interpret and analyze data and make an informed, calculated risk decision.
Ability to make sound contributions to tactical and strategic planning.
Ability to travel up to 25% of the time within the assigned territory and to the Home Office as required.
Compensation & Benefits The expected salary range for this role is $53,300–$80,000.00. Salary is based upon a wide range of factors, including candidate skills, experience, education, training, scope and responsibilities of the role, and market and business considerations.
