We are hiring for a Senior Labor Relations Specialist. The position may be based near a hub location or remotely.
Responsibilities
Participate in implementing the national labor relations strategy aligned with corporate objectives, business priorities, and company culture.
Work closely with the Director of Workforce Relations on employee engagement initiatives, leading on‑site assessments independently and providing actionable insights for leaders.
Collaborate with the Director of Labor Relations and HR leadership to prepare key elements of the negotiating mandate for approval.
Provide support for local collective agreements.
Build credibility and maintain regular relationships with trade union bodies, promoting understanding of business issues, priorities, and mutual respect.
Understand collective agreements and prioritize issues to recommend best solutions and improvements; assist in maintaining the national summary of collective‑agreement conditions.
Assist the Director of Labor Relations, HR business partners, and business unit DCMs with grievance and litigation case negotiation/regulation.
Serve as a key resource in labor relations.
Provide training and coaching to HR and business stakeholders on collective bargaining agreements, conflict resolution, disciplinary measures, and related issues.
Participate in arbitration hearings and engage with outside agencies when necessary.
Typical Minimum Qualifications
Degree or equivalent experience.
Typically has 4+ years of professional experience.
Willingness to travel approximately 40% of the time.
Critical Skills
At least 2 years of labor relations experience, including contract negotiation preparation, grievance handling, and employee engagement strategy execution.
Experience supporting representation campaigns, elections, and related matters.
Credibility and interpersonal skills to interact at all levels of the organization, with unions, and external partners.
Sound judgment, diplomacy, maturity, and finesse in interactions.
Digital acumen, competency, and curiosity are a plus.
Additional Knowledge And Preferred Skills
Bachelor’s degree in industrial relations or human resources management, or relevant experience.
Ability to manage by influence and mobilize stakeholders.
Ability to function in a matrix environment within a fast‑growing company, demonstrating excellent priority management.
Results‑oriented, initiative‑driven, autonomous, and high work capacity.
Experience in a healthcare or distribution company is an asset.
Physical Requirements
Ability to operate a laptop.
Ability to travel up to 40% of the time.
Compensation: Our base pay range for this position is $106,400 – $177,300. Pay will be determined by performance, experience, skills, equity, market evaluations, and geography. Additional compensation may include an annual bonus or long‑term incentive opportunities.
