Deputy Director for Outreach for the CORE Incubator

Position Overview The Deputy Director for Outreach (DDO) reports to the CORE Incubator's Director and manages daily operations, existing and new programming related to events, outreach, and regional capacity building. The DDO works across the project's three interconnected pillars—Training, Research, and Public Events—ensuring they reinforce one another and align with campus activities. The DDO monitors the applied research agenda, serves as the core representative to external stakeholders, and maintains relationships with municipal governments, K‑12 districts, nonprofits, and agencies such as the California Air Resources Board and the Government Accountability Office. In partnership with the Deputy Director for Campus Integration, the DDO oversees non‑academic administrative activities, collaborates with the Project Coordinator to ensure compliance with Department of Education protocols, and co‑mentors Integration Ambassadors through bi‑weekly progress and skill‑building assessments. The DDO also identifies and pursues diverse external funding streams from foundations and federal agencies to support the incubator’s sustainability.

Salary: The full salary range for the position is $103,100–$196,300 annually; the expected pay scale is up to $103,100 annually for a full‑time base rate, prorated for the 50% part‑time appointment. Applicants must have current work authorization; the university does not sponsor or take over employment visa sponsorship. This position is eligible for hybrid work.

Qualifications Minimum 6–10 years of related experience; advanced degree (or terminal PhD, JD, MD, etc.) in a related field; advanced analytical, interpersonal, collaborative, administrative, budgetary and communication skills; highly skilled fundraising experience.

Requirements

Advanced degree in related area and/or equivalent experience/training.

Terminal degree in a related field (PhD, JD, MD, etc.).

6–10 years of related experience.

Advanced ability to think creatively and independently on concepts requiring advanced analytical skills.

Academic background and experience in selected area of research.

Advanced interpersonal skills and ability to work with diverse groups to achieve results.

Advanced ability to work collaboratively with internal and external peers and managers.

Advanced knowledge of administrative, budgetary and financial principles and practices.

Advanced oral and written communication skills.

Highly skilled fundraising experience.
