
CT East Area Sales Manager Cardiac Surgery – U.S.

Lead senior sales teams for Medtronic’s Cardiovascular Portfolio, driving revenue, market share, and operating objectives across designated territories.
A Day in the Life Provide strategic leadership and sales direction to meet and exceed revenue/market share objectives for the assigned area. Drive sales execution across district teams, coach and develop management teams, and partner with cross‑functional colleagues to implement strategies that address market needs.
Responsibilities
Meet or exceed quarterly revenue, share, profitability and operating objectives.
Partner with marketing, service, finance, HR, supply chain, and clinical staff to implement tactics that address issues and achieve objectives.
Hire, develop and retain field talent; provide coaching, feedback and performance evaluations to management and staff.
Forecast sales, prepare annual budgets, schedule expenditures, analyze variances and initiate corrective actions.
Manage expense budgets and sales goals for Regional Managers.
Guide management on strategies to maintain and expand customer base; identify new customer opportunities.
Communicate product opportunities, evaluate partnerships and identify new products for market expansion.
Participate in field compensation plan development and award programs.
Maintain and communicate ethical positions and adherence to corporate policies.
Represent Medtronic at trade shows, medical meetings, and customer contacts.
Build long‑term relationships with physicians, perfusionists and other hospital personnel.
Conduct and evaluate market research, assess customer needs, and communicate insights to R&D, Operations and Marketing.

Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor’s Degree and minimum of 15 years of relevant sales experience or advanced degree with a minimum of 13 years of relevant sales experience.
Strong preference for candidates with prior ECT clinical & sales experience.
Preferred Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in business‑related area, MBA or additional business training.
Business acumen, judgment and experience in contract negotiation, marketing, training, healthcare economics, technical services, or related areas.
Excellent written, verbal, presentation, and training skills.
Computer literate (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
Preparation of budgets, sales goals, compensation programs, and strategic planning.
Supervision and motivation techniques and ability to work in cross‑functional teams.
Physical Job Requirements
Frequent travel to customer clinics, hospitals and off‑site meetings up to 60% of the time; independent mobility required.
Requires sitting, standing and walking for up to eight hours per day; ability to transport product/equipment.
Environmental exposures include eye protection, infectious disease, and radiation.
Travel & Work Requirements
Available/willing to work/travel weekends and evenings.
Position requires on‑call time.
Must drive approximately 80% of the time within assigned territory and hold a valid driver’s license with active insurance.
