
Transactions Consultant Digital Infrastructure

The Opportunity
The successful candidate will contribute to technical due diligence engagements for data center/digital and other infrastructure assets on behalf of lenders and investors. The role involves collecting and analyzing data, developing technical assessment reports, conducting site visits, maintaining client contacts, and gradually assuming overall project management responsibilities. The position reports to the transaction solution team within Black & Veatch Infrastructure Advisory and can be based in Denver, Chicago, or Gaithersburg.

Industry Knowledge Capability
Demonstrated knowledge of data center development, design, construction and/or operations
Leverages experience with early site development, tenant/offtake negotiation or management, engineering and design, inspections, outage assessment, budget processes, equipment condition assessment, capital project assessments, reliability/availability assessments, conducting field observations, performance assessments, and/or financial analysis and models
Applies appropriate methods or recognized equivalents to identified client needs
Anticipates and resolves technical problems with occasional assistance from others
Develops, presents, and defends conclusions, recommendations, and implementation plans
Analyzes and applies best practices knowledge of the relevant industries
Management Responsibilities Individual Contributor
Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor’s Degree or relevant work experience
4+ years experience in a business/consulting environment
All applicants must be able to complete pre‑employment onboarding requirements, which may include criminal/civil background check, drug screen, and motor vehicle records search
Preferred Qualifications
Engineering degree or other technical degree are preferred, though financial, economic, or MBA degrees will be considered if accompanied by supporting relevant experience and qualifications
Understanding of tenants/offtakes, development, design and operational differences between hyper‑scale, edge and colocation data centers and familiarity with data center tier rating systems
Industry knowledge of one or more of the following related to data centers
Data center development (site selection, feasibility study, interconnection, access to power/fiber/water)
Design (civil, structural, mechanical/energy modelling/HVAC, electrical)
Construction/Commissioning
Operations
Understanding of data center infrastructure, power distribution, energy modelling, cooling systems, redundancy requirements (such as for fiber, water and power/generation) and backup requirements
Ability to operate multiple software packages including:
Microsoft Office
Advanced PC literacy
Certifications Certifications related to area of expertise, where applicable, are preferred.
Work Environment / Physical Demands Hybrid or flexible work options may be offered after the first 90 days of employment based upon manager discretion, job performance and work assignments.

In accordance with local law, the following compensation range is applicable for the job and location associated with this requisition: $103,147.00 - $172,721.00
