Job Summary CIRES at the University of Colorado Boulder seeks an Outreach and Communications Specialist to expand the reach of the Engage Climate Science program. The role builds relationships with organizations, schedules seminars and workshops, and creates digital content to attract new audiences.

Key Responsibilities Program Outreach & Scheduling (50%)

Identify and pursue opportunities to book seminars and workshops with organizations, conferences, and professional groups.

Create 1–2‑week seminar/workshop travel tours.

Design strategies and activities to increase engagement and conduct successful marketing.

Provide logistical and technical support for online, hybrid, and in‑person seminars and workshops.

Website & Social Media Communication (40%)

Develop and update website content that clearly communicates the program’s mission, offerings, and impact.

Plan and create social media content (currently LinkedIn and Bluesky).

Assist in planning and supporting a cohesive brand approach and identity.

Assess needs for and develop other communication products.

Collaborate with CEEE staff to integrate communication with broader CEEE activities.

Other Activities (10%)

Support logistics planning alongside program lead and hourly logistics coordinator.

Work with CIRES administrators to support smooth contracting and business functions.

What You Should Know

This hourly position is funded via a university gift fund and is on‑call with varying hours. The average expected workload is ~15 hours per week during Monday‑Friday 9 a.m.–5 p.m. U.S. Mountain Time. No benefits are offered.

Anticipated start date: June 1, 2026.

Visa sponsorship is not offered. U.S. visa or work‑permit holders are not eligible.

Hourly salary of $25–$30, determined by education and experience.

Position may be hybrid or fully remote; remote candidates must reside within +/- 2 hours of U.S. Mountain Time and provide a quiet, professional workspace.

What We Require

Bachelor’s degree in communication, climate, business, or a related field.

Experience creating website and social media content.

Experience developing client relationships.
