Location: Santa Barbara, CA
Salary range:
$1,500.00–$3,500.00 per course.
Position Overview The Department of Professional and Continuing Education (PaCE) at the University of California, Santa Barbara invites applications for a pool of qualified temporary, part‑time instructors to teach on‑site and online courses in our Sales and Marketing programs for upcoming openings. The programs help students and working professionals develop practical skills in digital marketing strategy, brand development, marketing analytics, advertising, sales, and customer engagement. Courses emphasize applied learning and real‑world marketing scenarios that prepare students to develop, execute, and evaluate modern marketing campaigns. Instruction may also incorporate the use of modern marketing technologies and AI‑assisted tools for campaign development, audience analysis, and content creation.

Instructor Duties
Prepare and deliver course materials aligned with program learning objectives.
Design assessments and engaging learning activities that support student learning and skill development.
Update course content periodically to reflect evolving industry practices and program feedback.
Communicate course expectations, learning objectives, and grading policies clearly to students.
Respond to student questions and learning needs in a timely and professional manner.
Employ inclusive teaching practices that support diverse learners, including students with documented accommodations.
Evaluate student performance and assign grades based on established learning outcomes.
Submit final grades within university timelines and address student inquiries regarding course evaluation as needed.
Maintain student records in accordance with University policies.
Qualifications Basic qualifications (required at time of application):
A bachelor’s degree in marketing, business administration, communications, advertising, analytics, or a related discipline, or a relevant professional marketing credential.
Additional qualifications (required at time of start):
A minimum of 3 years of professional experience in marketing, digital marketing, brand management, advertising, sales, marketing analytics, or a closely related field.
Preferred qualifications:
Master’s degree in marketing, business administration, communications, or a related discipline or 5+ years of professional marketing experience.
Professional experience in one or more areas such as: digital marketing strategy, brand management or public relations, advertising and campaign development, marketing analytics or performance measurement, sales strategy or business development.
Prior teaching, training, or corporate facilitation experience.
Experience using Learning Management Systems (Canvas, Moodle, or similar) or willingness to learn.
