Social Media & Marketing Manager

Cheer Athletics Columbus, Gahanna, OH, United States

Social Media & Community Manager (Part-time) About Cheer Athletics Columbus

Cheer Athletics Columbus is one of the premier all-star cheer programs in the country, bringing elite coaching, championship culture, and a tight-knit community together under one roof. We're passionate about developing athletes and building a program that families are proud to be part of and we want our social presence to reflect that energy.

We're looking for a creative, self-motivated social media professional to help us tell that story online and grow an engaged community across our platforms.

Role overview This is a part-time, hybrid role, a blend of in-gym time capturing live content and remote work for editing, scheduling, and community management. You'll own our Facebook, Instagram, and YouTube channels end-to-end: from strategy to filming to posting to engagement. You'll also travel with our teams to competitions and events throughout the season, serving as our on-the-ground content creator.

This is not a hand-holding role. We want someone who shows up, sees what needs to be captured, and makes it happen. Passion for creativity, big ideas, and superb execution is a must!

Key responsibilities

Own and manage the full content calendar across Facebook, Instagram, and YouTube

Develop a content strategy that drives community growth, engagement, and program awareness

Identify trends and platform-native formats relevant to the cheer, athletics, and youth sports space

Content creation

Shoot and edit short-form video content: Reels, TikTok-style clips, YouTube Shorts, and long-form recaps

Be present in the gym regularly to capture practices, athlete moments, and team culture

Travel to competitions and events (25–30%) to capture and post real-time content

Create static posts, carousels, and Stories including promotional and registration content

Write compelling captions that reflect our brand voice: energetic, proud, and community-first

Community management

Monitor and respond to comments, DMs, and messages across all platforms daily

Engage authentically with athletes, families, alumni, and followers

Identify superfans, standout athlete moments, and user-generated content worth resharing

Analytics & reporting

Track performance metrics: follower growth, reach, engagement, and video views

Provide regular insights and recommendations to improve content and strategy

Continuously test and optimize based on what's performing

Work closely with gym leadership on key campaigns, season milestones, and program announcements

Bring proactive ideas for content series, athlete spotlights, and seasonal moments

Coordinate with coaches and staff to plan content shoots around gym schedules

Qualifications

2+ year managing social media for a brand, gym, sports team, or similar organization

Proven experience growing and engaging audiences on Instagram and Facebook; YouTube a plus

Strong short-form video shooting and editing skills (CapCut, Reels editor, Adobe Premiere, or similar)

Excellent caption writing with a natural, engaging voice

Comfortable being in a gym environment and working around athletes and families

Highly self-directed, you see what needs to be done and you do it

Able to travel 25–30% during the competitive season for events and competitions

Experience with Canva, or Adobe for graphics strongly preferred

Passion for cheer, gymnastics, dance, or youth athletics strongly preferred

Work structure

Part-time: 20–25 hours per week

Hybrid: combination of required in-gym hours (practice nights, events) and remote work

Travel: 25–30%, primarily to cheer competitions and showcases throughout the season

Flexibility is important: some evenings and weekends required to align with gym scheduling
