– We are a leader in genetic medicine focusing on Duchenne muscular dystrophy and related therapies. We are looking for a Director of State Government Affairs to shape policy in the U.S.

Responsibilities

Serve as primary representative to state policymakers and build strategic relationships.

Develop and execute State Government Affairs engagement plan in the assigned region.

Assess political climate on rare disease and gene therapy policies and provide mitigation strategies.

Advocate on company interests through trade association committees and coalitions.

Maintain network of contacts and secure legislative opportunities.

Coordinate with internal teams to align strategies.

Manage external consultants and third‑party partners.

Draft memos, educational materials, and presentations on state legislation impact.

Support interactions with state Medicaid agencies.

Ensure compliance with state lobbyist registration, reporting, and political contribution requirements.

Qualifications

10+ years of state government affairs experience.

Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field.

Deep understanding of state legislative, regulatory, and political processes.

Prior experience as a state lobbyist preferred.

Experience in healthcare or related industry, especially rare disease therapies.

Proven skill in building relationships with elected officials and policy leaders.

Strong writing and editing of legislative language.

Effective written and verbal communication and presentation skills.

Team‑oriented with collaboration across trade associations and patient advocates.

High attention to detail and ability to manage multiple projects.

Will travel up to 40% within the assigned region.

Benefits & Compensation The target salary range is $185,600 – $232,000 per year. Benefits include:
