Job Description Focus Area: Influenza. Our Marketing team seeks individuals passionate about using strategic insights, data and analytics to drive decision making, tackling some of the world’s greatest health threats. The Digital Human Health organization is transforming to better power decision‑making across commercialization. The role will be based in a hybrid (i.e., office‑based and remote) model.
Position Overview The Market Research Associate Director (Hybrid) will be a primary point of contact for their assigned areas of responsibility for our product’s marketing/commercial team. They will plan, prioritize, manage, and execute a scope of work within the Anti‑viral Influenza therapeutic area, spanning pre‑ and post‑launch for MK‑1406 and other future assets.
Key Responsibilities Market Research & Analytics
Develop and oversee execution of assigned portions of the global market research plan with a strategic mindset and minimal supervision.
Lead primary research projects, framing critical business questions, identifying information needs, integrating other data sources, and managing the research process.
Own understanding of business challenges, propose appropriate methods, apply best practices, and develop new techniques to meet objectives.
Proficiency in market research methodologies and techniques to design effective studies.
Complete analyses using secondary data, syndicated reports, and databases, integrating findings into primary research to build compelling stories and deliver concise actionable results.
Project Management
Implement studies and manage project budgets; brief research vendors to deliver required objectives, timelines, and insights.
Articulate rationale, hypotheses, and methodology to management and franchise teams.
Assess vendor technical capabilities and manage analytics risks.
Communicate with marketing/commercial teams to ensure insights inform decision‑making and planning.
Proactive Collaboration
Collaborate with cross‑functional partners including marketing communications, market access, commercial, and advertising agencies.
Assist forecasting team with analysis to inform brand forecasts and KPI dashboards.
Partner with analytics functions on novel data sources such as Real World Data.
Lead ad‑hoc franchise‑wide initiatives as needed.
Education & Qualifications
Required: BA/BS degree.
Minimum of eight (8) years in pharmaceutical marketing, market research, analytics, sales, forecasting, access, pricing, or competitive intelligence.
Expertise in quantitative and qualitative research methodologies, secondary data analysis, epidemiology data.
Strong analytical, problem‑solving, communication, storytelling skills.
Strategic consultant mindset, ability to build stakeholder trust, prioritize multiple requests, and lead change.
Preferred Knowledge & Skills
Launch excellence and early commercial development knowledge.
Familiarity with marketing strategy development.
Strong leadership skills around customer focus, decision making, courage, candor, collaboration.
Solid project management skills and ability to motivate without authority.
Experience managing transformation and change in fast‑paced environments.

U.S. Hybrid Work Model Effective September 5, 2023, employees in office‑based positions in the U.S. will work a hybrid model: three days on‑site per week (Monday‑Thursday) with Friday remote, unless business‑critical tasks require on‑site presence. This model does not apply to field‑based, facility‑based, manufacturing‑based, or research‑based positions, or roles designated as remote.
Salary Range $156,900.00 – $247,000.00 (depending on education, experience, geography, etc.). Eligible for annual bonus and long‑term incentive where applicable.
