Sales Associate – Great Big Story / whynow
New York City / Hybrid
About whynow and Great Big Story whynow is an entertainment and media company built around passionate communities across travel, food, music, and film. We operate three brands with growing audiences on social platforms, with Great Big Story (GBS) as our flagship — a global following of 14 million and one of the most distinctive voices in short-form character‑driven storytelling.
We're at an exciting stage: the product has momentum, the audience is real, and we're now building the commercial infrastructure to match. That means this role matters — and the person in it will have genuine impact from day one.
The Role We're looking for a Sales Associate to work alongside our VP of Sales in driving new business and growing brand partnerships across the US market and beyond. You'll be embedded in a small, fast‑moving team — which means real responsibility and client exposure.
This role sits at the intersection of media, culture, and branded storytelling. The ideal candidate has a few years of experience in media or advertising sales, understands the social and digital landscape, and is comfortable using all tools to reach out to someone they've never met. You'll need to be tenacious, organised, and genuinely excited by the work we make.
Responsibilities
Build and manage a pipeline of new brand and agency prospects, complementing existin relationships already in development
Support senior sales leadership in NYC and London across research, outreach, and pipeline management
Track leads, opportunities, and deal progress in our shared CRM
Develop sales materials, proposals, and custom pitch decks
Coordinate internal workflows between sales, editorial, production, and marketing
Prepare meeting briefs, follow‑up notes, and recaps for client meetings
Conduct research on prospective partners, industry trends, and the competitive landscape
Manage campaign timelines, deliverables, and reporting for active partnerships
Support renewals and upsell opportunities with existing clients
Travel nationally (and occasionally internationally) to meet clients and attend industry events
