The Associate Director, Franchise Strategic Planning and Operations serves as a strategic partner to the Franchise Vice President and leadership team, enabling effective governance, execution, and cross‑functional alignment across the franchise. This role supports enterprise‑level planning, prioritization, and decision‑making by driving key business processes, coordinating leadership forums, and ensuring disciplined follow‑through on strategic and operational initiatives. The position plays a critical role in translating franchise strategy into coordinated action, improving organizational effectiveness, and advancing business priorities across internal stakeholders and external interface.
Key Responsibilities
Serve as a trusted strategic advisor and operational partner to the Franchise Vice President, helping shape priorities, manage complexity, and improve leadership team effectiveness.
Lead franchise business planning, including short‑ and long‑range strategic planning, annual communications plan, investor relations requirements, and deliverables to AbbVie Oncology portfolio team.
Design and coordinate strategic planning sessions, leadership meetings, and governance forums; prepare agendas, materials, action tracking, and decision logs to ensure clear accountability and follow‑through.
Coordinate leadership team governance structure and content and develop staff agendas to support effective decision‑making and seamless execution across the franchise.
Oversee critical cross‑functional initiatives and special projects, ensuring progress against milestones, risk mitigation, and escalation of issues as needed.
Partner with functional leaders to develop and execute internal communications, franchise town halls, and culture‑building efforts that reinforce strategic priorities and employee engagement.
Support the Vice President in preparing for and coordinating leadership alignment meetings and other enterprise governance interactions to ensure cohesive messaging and efficient decision‑making.
Monitor key milestones, risks, dependencies, and decisions across the franchise; establish transparent operating rhythms and reporting to support accountability and execution discipline.
Qualifications
Minimum of five years’ sales leadership, marketing, or other relevant in‑house experience.
Bachelor’s Degree required. Preferred MBA or Master’s Degree.
Advanced project management and communication skills.
Working knowledge of the market including trends and issues as they relate to AbbVie.
Thrives in fast‑paced environments.
Able to manage multiple, simultaneous projects with moderate‑high complexity, often under a tight deadline.
Works well with cross‑functional stakeholders and can own projects from idea phase to implementation, adapting and iterating as needed.
Outcomes‑focused with a high degree of attention to detail.
Demonstrated relationship management, interpersonal skills, ability to motivate, lead, influence, and engage without direct authority.
Sound, logical problem‑solving and decision‑making skills.
