
Part-Time Recreation Specialist - Fit For Fun

Position Description The purpose of this part‑time position is to assist with recreation program delivery. Duties include monitoring facility operations, recommending and implementing age‑appropriate recreation programs and activities, and performing administrative tasks. Additional duties involve trash pickup, supporting special events, ordering supplies, delivering programs, and coordinating with outside agencies.
Responsibilities
Monitor facility operations: open/close facilities, assist with maintenance, report repairs, coordinate facility use, enforce rules, address safety issues, and manage the gift shop.
Develop and implement recreation programs: create developmental activities, submit proposals, set up/break down programs, lead activities, recruit & supervise volunteers, coordinate athletic events, create training programs, teach classes, market events, evaluate events, develop registration forms, and plan excursions.
Perform administrative duties: create registration and flyers, develop rules and regulations, schedule activities, answer phones, greet patrons, run cash register, maintain attendance logs, update member files, make copies, distribute marketing materials, assist with special events, give tours, maintain communication with agencies and participants, and attend meetings.
Facility/Program Area Specific Responsibilities
Coordinate birthday party rentals.
Create and organize weekly art projects for early childhood development.
Perform cash drawer transactions accurately.
Perform light housekeeping and cleaning between sessions.
Work weekends, particularly Saturdays.
Must pass a driving and criminal history check; post‑offer drug screen required.
Qualifications
High School Diploma/GED or equivalent and six months of relevant experience (or equivalent combination).
Class C Driver’s License.
CPR/First Aid and AED certification or ability to obtain within 90 days of hire.
Availability to work nights, weekends, and some holidays.
Physical Demands May require walking or standing to a significant degree; may need to lift up to 20 lbs occasionally, 10 lbs frequently or less.
Working Conditions Work is primarily indoor in a recreation or neighborhood center and/or outdoor in a park, recreation area, or golf course.
