Practice/Department:
Assessment Practice
Location:
Chicago, IL
Position Type:
Full Time, Exempt
Location:
Global role, open to hiring in a BTS hub with flexibility and travel expectations of 20-30%.
About the Role As Senior Director, Assessment Innovation & Product, you will own and drive the future of assessment at BTS. This is a global, COE-level leadership role within the Talent Insights & Assessment COE, focused on advancing methodologies, integrating AI responsibly, and building proprietary intellectual property that differentiates BTS in the market. Instead, you will operate across geographies and disciplines, working closely with Digital, Data Science, and senior Talent Insights & Assessment leaders—to invent, test, and scale next-generation assessment approaches. Your mandate is to ensure BTS stays ahead of evolving client needs, industry trends, and technological advances, while maintaining the highest standards of scientific rigor and ethics. This role sits at the intersection of innovation and commercialization, ensuring that new assessment methodologies not only advance the science, but also translate into scalable, revenue-generating solutions for BTS.

Define and lead the global assessment innovation roadmap, aligned to BTS strategy and market evolution.
Design, prototype, and validate new assessment methodologies (e.g., simulations, hybrid tools, adaptive assessments, AI-enabled approaches).
Translate advances in behavioral science and technology into practical, defensible assessment solutions.
Ensure methodological rigor, fairness, and ethical application across all innovations.
Lead the responsible integration of AI into assessment design, scoring, interpretation, and delivery.
Partner with Digital and Data Science teams to prototype and operationalize AI-enabled methods.
Explore and test emerging development approaches (e.g., low-code
o-code tools, vibe coding) as accelerators for assessment innovation.
Intellectual Property & Differentiation
Build proprietary IP that clearly differentiates BTS assessment offerings.
Codify new methods so they can be adopted and scaled globally (standards, guidance, enablement).

Partner with commercial teams to position and bring new IP to market, supporting adoption across priority clients.
Global COE Influence & Enablement
Serve as a senior scientific and innovation voice across the global COE.
Guide regional teams in adopting new methodologies without owning client delivery.
Contribute to COE working groups and strategic priorities related to methods, tools, and innovation.
Enable teams to effectively communicate and apply new methodologies in client and sales contexts.
Commercial Impact & Client Engagement
Partner with account teams to shape innovative assessment solutions in pursuit of new business opportunities.
Engage with senior clients as a subject matter expert to articulate the value of next-generation assessment approaches, including AI-enabled methodologies.
Translate emerging methodologies and intellectual property into compelling, client-relevant propositions that support business development efforts.
Contribute to go-to-market strategies for new assessment offerings, ensuring strong alignment between innovation, client needs, and commercial impact.

Master’s degree in Industrial-Organizational Psychology or a related field with 15+ years of experience, or PhD with 12+ years of relevant experience.
Deep expertise in assessment science, psychometrics, and research methods.
Demonstrated experience developing or evolving assessment methodologies or intellectual property.

Strong understanding of AI, digital assessment tools, and emerging technologies.
Comfort operating in ambiguity and shaping direction without a predefined playbook.
Ability to influence senior stakeholders across disciplines and geographies.
