
Lobbying Reporter

Role Description
This full-time hybrid role based in Washington, DC, allows for a combination of in-office and remote work. The successful candidate will be responsible for providing comprehensive and insightful coverage of lobbying forces on K Street, focusing on trends, personnel, and power.
Responsibilities
Exclusive Reporting:
Generate original and exclusive stories on how lobbyingis affecting legislation on Capitol Hill and influencing members of Congress.
Enterprise Reporting:
Conduct investigative reporting on all things related to lobbying and making the push and pull in Washington, DC, understandable to a wide audience.
Build Sources:
Cultivate and maintain strong relationships with hired guns, trade associations, grassroots organizations, and other influential groups.
Qualifications
Proven track record:
Minimum of 3-5 years of experience as a reporter or editor, preferably covering politics and/or Congress.
Strong reporting skills:
Excellent news judgment, strong writing, and the ability to quickly and accurately gather and synthesize information.
Investigative skills:
Experience conducting investigations and uncovering exclusive stories.
Strong work ethic:
Ability to work independently, as well as part of a team, meet deadlines, and thrive in a fast-paced environment.
Excellent communication skills:
Strong written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to effectively communicate complex information to readers.
Knowledge of politics:
Deep understanding of lobbying, the legislative process, and key players on Capitol Hill.
Strong network:
Existing relationships with lobbyists.
