Position Summary This position supports the work of the Y, a leading nonprofit that strengthens the community.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Collaborate with the Senior Program Director and Director of Operations to promote healthy living, social responsibility, and youth development. Serve as a role model for staff, participants, and the community.
Participate in YMCA’s strategic plan development and execution with CEO, Director of Operations, and other directors. Use the plan to lead and recruit staff and volunteers for campaigns, programs, and curriculum, ensuring safety, licensing standards, and the YMCA’s reputation while providing the highest level of customer service. Serve on committees and task forces and adhere to all policies and standards.
Work with the Senior Program Director, Director of Operations, and Finance department to develop and manage a responsible budget, providing monthly feedback on variances, managing grants and deliverables, and developing program performance metrics and reports to track progress toward financial and non‑financial goals.
Design and implement purchasing, inventory, marketing, staff training, curriculum, scheduling, and communication processes, along with documented procedures for the department in accordance with standards and licensing requirements. Lead youth and camp programming.
Recruit, hire, train, develop, schedule, and direct personnel and volunteers. Provide continuous coaching through observations and feedback to support staff growth and ensure program standards are met.
Build effective, authentic relationships with staff, volunteers, participants, and community partners, connecting participants to the YMCA.
Know and review all emergency procedures, respond to emergencies immediately following YMCA policies and training, and complete related reports as required.
Oversee all camp operations to ensure ongoing surveillance, compliance with health and safety regulations including rescue equipment, and meet the standard of care.
Regularly perform safety checks of department spaces and remain prepared to address emergencies at all times.
As a Mandated Reporter, recognize signs of abuse or neglect and report to supervisor and appropriate authorities.
Oversee the department’s administrative tasks, including processing registrations, collections, and optimizing program capacity.
Non‑Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Use hands and fingers to operate a standard computer keyboard or tablet; use a computer, mouse, printer, copier; operate program equipment; speak and hear on a telephone.
Specific vision abilities required include close vision, distance vision, and the ability to adjust focus.
Lift and/or move up to 60 pounds.
Work Environment
Work is performed at a community campus that serves all people.
Work can be stressful and requires the ability to multitask, meet deadlines, and cope with pressures related to the position.
Campus is open early mornings, evenings, and weekends; the job may require attendance outside regular hours (9AM–5PM).
Noise levels vary by event.
Essential Experience and Skill Requirements
5–7 years of experience in a related field.
CPR and First Aid certification required within 60 days of hire.
Strong leadership skills.
Team player with superb interpersonal skills; ability to partner with coworkers and work positively with the public, resolving conflicts as needed.
Self‑starter capable of multitasking, leading others, working independently, and adapting to changing circumstances in a fast‑paced environment.
General computer skills and ability to learn new software.
MRTQ certifications required within 30 days of hire.
Valid driver’s license, acceptable driving record, and access to a personal vehicle preferred.
Essential Education Requirements
Bachelor’s degree in Education or the equivalent in education, along with closely related work experience.
