Description
Leidos is seeking a Product Designer to be part of the mission solution and help lead SSA’s Digital Modernization Strategy. Join one of our high performing teams responsible for building the next-generation enterprise APIs and modern responsive user interfaces, supporting the Social Security Administration (SSA) and their mission to meet the changing needs of the public, positively impacting at least 65 million American lives per month. Key required skills include user-centered design (UCD) principles, documenting user requirements and needs, interaction/interface design using user-centered methods, conducting formative user research tests, and presenting findings and recommendations.
This role may require occasional onsite trips to Woodlawn, MD.
DAY TO DAY RESPONSIBILITIES
Derive business processes, analyze user needs, assist in requirements definition, design browser-based interfaces, and design and conduct usability testing
Elicit business goals and user needs from stakeholders
Facilitate customer discovery sessions
Create Conceptual Models, Journey Maps, Personas and Scenarios of Use
Create and refine screen prototypes
Document user requirements, screen designs, and design recommendations
FOUNDATION FOR SUCCESS
(Basic Qualifications)
BS Degree and a minimum of 6 years of direct Interaction/Interface design experience in User-Centered Methods and User Analysis. Additional years of experience may be substituted in lieu of degree.
Must have prior SSA experience.
Demonstrate strong oral and written communication skills, with the ability to communicate technical topics as well as interface with the customer on a daily basis
Must be able to obtain and maintain a Public Trust. Contract requirement.

Minimum of 6 years of direct Interaction/Interface design experience in User-Centered Methods and User Analysis
Minimum of 6 years of experience documenting user requirements, screen designs, and design recommendations
Minimum of 4 year of experience in designing and conducting formative usability tests in both formal and informal settings
Minimum of 4 year of experience preparing and presenting findings and recommendations in small and large group settings
Must provide a digital portfolio of design work for review
HOW TO STAND OUT FROM THE CROWD
(Desired Skills)
Experience using Figma prototyping software
Experience using Axure RP prototyping software
Experience with AdobeXD prototyping software
Experience with Pega and/or ServiceNow platforms
Experience with the Agile/Scrum methodology
Understanding of responsive design
Prior experience supporting government agencies
Understanding of Section 508 and its requirements regarding design
Hold additional UX Certifications such as UX Master Certification (NN/g) or UX Design Immersive (General Assembly)
