Human Resources Specialist

This Human Resources Specialist provides HR support for a large district workforce, including recruitment, classification, benefits, employee relations, personnel security, and special HR programs and supports daily HR operations and data across key systems like National Finance Center (NFC), EMPOWHR, and Personnel Tracking System (PTS) to ensure accurate personnel processing and policy compliance. If selected for this position, you will join a well-respected team that is responsible for providing Human Resources Specialist support in the U.S. Attorney's Office, District of Columbia, located in Washington, District of Columbia, focusing in the areas of technical authority, systems oversight, and quality control. Typical work assignments will include: Serving as technical authority and primary POC for HR quality control and data processing, resolving complex issues and ensuring accurate personnel actions. Developing SOPs, training staff, and evaluating HR systems (NFC, EMPOWHR, PTS) to improve processes and maintain data integrity. Providing guidance to HR assistants and specialists in processing complex personnel actions, conducting accuracy reviews, determining benefit eligibility, and resolving data entry issues. Advising managers and employees on HR matters, coordinating program review responses, and preparing reports and recommendations. Conducting analyses, troubleshooting system problems, collaborating with HR/IT staff, and maintaining official personnel records in compliance with policy. Responsibilities will increase and assignments will become more complex as your training and experience progress.
