Director Of Litigation Oversight And Compliance
GEICO is seeking an accomplished Director of Litigation Oversight and Compliance to lead litigation oversight and compliance strategy for GEICO Staff Counsel, setting operational standards and driving measurable performance improvements across teams. This role reports to the Senior Director of Litigation and Operations Strategy in partnership with Staff Counsel leadership and key stakeholders to strengthen audit readiness, improve governance and policy controls, enhance case management technology, and deliver clear reporting on risk, metrics, and outcomes. Location: Remote role, with in-office presence and travel as needed. Preferred location: Maryland (Bethesda office). Responsibilities: Leadership and Strategy Oversee implementation of litigation optimization strategies and compliance initiatives. Supervise implementation of litigation strategies aligned with company goals (e.g., cost efficiency, outcome consistency). Provide executive-level reporting, risk escalation, and recommendations. Manage the Senior Manager, Litigation Oversight and Compliance. Audit, Compliance and Policy Oversee compliance posture, audit readiness, and remediation strategy for Staff Counsel. Administer and enforce litigation operations governance standards. Oversee policy version control and SharePoint governance. Performance and Metrics Oversee performance calibrations (annual and mid-year). Administer and ensure enterprise visibility into KPIs, metrics, and client survey results. Technology and Case Management Oversee technology improvement plans for litigation operations (case-handling processes, workflows, technology, and vendor management). Sponsor TeamConnect governance and operational enhancements. Administer case assignment systems, litigation budgeting, and efficiency tracking. Stakeholder Engagement Collaborate with stakeholders across Claims, internal partners, and outside counsel. Partner with Legal Operations and Legal Tech to lead automation and scalability initiatives. Qualifications: Education and Experience Active law license required in at least one state, with all necessary continuing legal education (CLE) maintained. Minimum experience required: 7 years in legal operations, litigation, strategy, program management, and/or consulting (ideally in an in-house or professional services environment). Demonstrated people?management and senior?level leadership experience. Skills and Competencies Data-driven operator with experience defining KPIs, building reporting, and using metrics to drive decisions and performance calibrations. Compliance and governance leader with the ability to strengthen audit readiness, remediation execution, and policy/controls management (including version control and knowledge management). Legal operations and technology acumen with experience improving case management workflows, partnering with Legal Tech, and driving system governance (e.g., TeamConnect). Program and change management capability to scope initiatives, manage stakeholders, and deliver measurable operational improvements in a matrixed environment. Executive communication and influence with the judgment to escalate risk appropriately, align leaders, and drive accountability with integrity.
