City/State Woodbridge, VA Work Shift First (Days) Overview: The Director of Philanthropy for Sentara Foundation will be an integral part of the Foundation team, responsible for assisting with day-to-day management of the team. The Director will lead staff and initiatives for the identification, cultivation, solicitation and recognition of donors of major outright and planned gifts for priority projects and campaigns. This position is responsible for the personal management of a major gifts portfolio of donors and prospective donors, and for fostering collaboration with Sentara facilities and community leaders in supporting the work of our organization. Education: Bachelors Degree (required) Masters Degree (preferred) Experience: 10 years of experience in Foundation Environment AND Fund Raising/Special Events required. 5+ years of project management experience leading projects and people to achieve established goals. Proven track record of major gift fundraising with comprehensive knowledge of planned giving, annual giving, and corporate/foundation grant management. Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Ability to lead and manage a diverse team of professional staff. Experience managing volunteers and board members. Deep understanding and experience managing a CMR Database system including gift accounting, gift reporting, and gift acknowledgement systems.
