leading a lean but expanding preconstruction function at a pivotal stage of growth. You’ll play a central role in shaping how projects are pursued, priced, structured, and ultimately won while helping build out the estimating team for the next phase of expansion. projects Be part of a business delivering large-scale projects in the $150M+ range Hybrid working environment with flexibility to split time between the office, home, and project sites Competitive executive-level package including strong bonus potential and long-term ownership-style benefits As Chief Estimator, you will: Lead and manage the estimating and preconstruction team, ensuring projects are properly staffed, prioritized, and delivered to a high standard Oversee the full estimating lifecycle across multiple projects, from conceptual budgeting through final pricing, GMP, and negotiated deal structures Partner with operations and senior leadership to understand upcoming opportunities and align team resources accordingly Assign projects to estimators, establish project teams, and ensure each pursuit is aligned with broader client and business strategy Review drawings, specifications, logistics, and project documentation to guide the team toward technically sound, commercially competitive estimates Drive best practice across the department, improving systems, consistency, reporting, and overall estimating performance Lead subcontractor strategy, bid coverage, market engagement, and proposal evaluation across all trades You will ideally possess: 10-15+ years of estimating experience within commercial construction Strong leadership experience managing, mentoring, and developing estimating or preconstruction teams A background with a large general contractor or similarly scaled construction business Deep understanding of all trades and all phases of preconstruction Proven ability to lead estimating strategy across multiple projects and multiple teams simultaneously Strong knowledge of conceptual estimating, competitive bidding, negotiated work, GMP, and lump sum pricing Experience on large, complex projects across sectors such as commercial, hospitality, retail, high-rise, residential, or mixed-use Bachelor’s degree in a construction-related field preferred Interested?
