We are looking for a Technical Accounting Director to work for our client. The ideal candidate aligns with the responsibilities and qualifications outlined below.

Our client is seeking a Technical Accounting Director to lead technical accounting activities, policy development, and complex accounting matters. This role serves as a key subject‑matter expert and partner to accounting leadership, finance, and external auditors. The position is hybrid, based in Rosemont, Illinois.

What You’ll Be Doing

• Lead technical accounting research and interpretation of U.S. GAAP
• Develop, implement, and maintain company accounting policies and position papers
• Provide guidance on complex transactions, including revenue recognition, lease accounting, business combinations, and equity‑based compensation
• Support adoption of new accounting standards and assess business impact
• Partner with accounting and finance teams to ensure accurate and compliant financial reporting
• Serve as primary technical liaison for external auditors on complex accounting matters
• Review and support quarterly and annual financial reporting requirements
• Provide training and guidance to accounting team members on technical topics
• Support M&A activity, including due diligence and purchase accounting, as applicable

What We’re Looking For

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance
• CPA required
• 10+ years of progressive accounting experience, including significant technical accounting exposure
• Strong expertise in U.S. GAAP and technical accounting research
• Experience supporting complex transactions and accounting policy development
• Background in public accounting and/or large corporate environments preferred
• Proven ability to communicate complex accounting concepts to non‑technical stakeholders
• Strong leadership, analytical, and documentation skills
