Position Details
Aligned with Baruch College’s strategic vision, the Office of Human Resources is dedicated to attracting, nurturing, and retaining a diverse and talented workforce. The Human Resources Specialist plays a key role in driving recruitment efforts and ensuring a smooth, positive experience for new hires and hiring managers. Reporting to the Human Resources Director, this position focuses on managing the recruitment lifecycle, enhancing onboarding processes, and supporting personnel actions while ensuring compliance with CUNY policies and procedures. Responsibilities
Administer the recruitment process for Instructional and Classified positions, from initial job posting to final candidate selection under the advisement of the Talent Acquisition Management manager and HR Director. Prepare and present personnel actions to the Personnel Staff Screening Committee, ensuring thorough documentation and compliance with established protocols. Collect and review documentation for reclassifications, salary adjustments, and other employment‑related changes. Perform and track the onboarding process for new hires, including verification of submitted documentation, complete action forms for CUNYfirst data entry, and prepare appointment letters. Perform and track the offboarding process by ensuring proper documentation and communication with relevant departments. Route action documentation to University payroll submission to ensure accurate and timely paycheck processing. Collaborate with campus leadership to assess staffing needs, advise on recruitment strategies, review job descriptions, draft recruitment plans, and post openings on internal and external platforms, coordinating with Advertising agencies as needed. Review and provide guidance on the recruitment process, job description classification, reclassification requests, level changes, search waivers, substitute appointments, and merit increases to ensure alignment with CUNY policies and employment laws. Support leadership with HR‑related inquiries and special projects as needed. Maintain tracking systems for recruitment actions and new hires, ensuring accuracy and completeness at each step of the process. Leverage tracking tools to monitor pending actions, ensuring timely follow‑up and completion. Support the use of reports, such as the CJR for tracking sub‑appointments, and integrate data‑driven insights into recruitment strategies. Serve as TruView Administrator, managing access and utilization to streamline recruitment data and insights. Collaborate with the Office of Diversity and Inclusion to promote equitable hiring practices and build diverse candidate pools. Qualifications
Bachelor's Degree and four years' related experience required. Preferred Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field and four years of related experience required. Minimum of three years of experience in recruitment or talent acquisition, preferably in higher education or public sector environments. Strong understanding of recruitment best practices, employment laws, and regulations. Exceptional organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast‑paced environment. Proficiency in HRIS systems and recruitment software, such as CUNYfirst Talent Acquisition Management. Commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion in recruitment practices. CUNY Title Overview

Advises employees and managers on Human Resources policies and guidelines; provides a high level of customer service in assisting members of the College community. Supervises and administers one or more human resources programs such as recruiting, pay administration, employee orientation, employee benefits, data entry and record‑keeping, and performance appraisal/reappointment practices. Maintains an in‑depth understanding of CUNY rules and regulations, relevant laws and guidelines, collective bargaining agreements, and College policies, and applies these to his/her areas of responsibility. Investigates regarding sensitive employee issues or complaints. Helps create innovative communications such as manuals, web pages, or employee meetings and provides these to the College community. $76,937–$86,741; salary commensurate with education and experience.
