Overview
Matt Fajkus Architecture is a dynamic Austin-based practice with design awards at local, regional, and national levels. Our founding Principal Architect, Matt Fajkus, is a published author and award-winning Professor at the UT School of Architecture, where he is also the Director of the Graduate Program in Sustainable Design. Sarah Johnson is also Principal Architect at MF Architecture, recognized as an exceptional emerging leader. Our work has been published in Arch Daily, Dwell Magazine, NPR, ESPN’s Longhorn Network, Dezeen, Texas Architect, and The Wall Street Journal. We are a boutique architecture firm specializing in custom residential and commercial design with an emphasis on sustainability and collaboration.
We are a reflective practice that learns and grows from each project, grounded in our process to incrementally innovate as we move ahead. We pursue a broad range of projects in terms of scale and type and seek to educate about the value of Architecture through press, publicity, and social media outreach to effect positive change through design.
Ideal Candidate
3 or more years of experience in the architectural profession (licensure not required)
Strong design skills and technical skills with an interest in comprehensive quality control
Strong experience and interest in multiple typologies and scales
Internal communication skills, a collaborative spirit, and a positive attitude
External communication capabilities, including with clients, consultants, and general contractors
Ability to multi-task and work at various paces
Willingness to learn and grow with the firm, including developing leadership skills
Production ability (Revit skills, etc.) preferred
Local knowledge (Austin construction budgets, permitting, and regulatory processes) preferred
