Immanuel Communities is seeking a Therapeutic Recreational Specialist to work at Newport House, located at 6798 North 67th Plaza, Omaha, NE 68152. Newport House features 24 skilled nursing and rehabilitation suites, along with 72 long‑term care suites.
This is a full‑time position with typical work hours from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., including one evening per week and one weekend day per month. The schedule may vary based on activity planning and organizational needs. Candidates must be available to work during their scheduled hours and should maintain flexibility to accommodate weekly schedule changes.
Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Recreation Therapy or related field.
Two (2) years of experience in therapeutic recreation, activity programming, or a similar role supporting older adults.
Experience in a skilled nursing facility or senior living environment preferred.
Willingness to complete the Nebraska‑certified Activity Coordinator course or obtain certification as a therapeutic recreation specialist.
Must be at least 21 years of age and hold a valid Driver’s License in the state of residence; in Iowa, must have a chauffeur’s license or be able to obtain one within 14 days of employment.
Must hold an acceptable motor‑vehicle record from the state where the license was issued.
Depending on location, may be required to provide proof of insurance and reliable transportation.
Successful completion of a DOT medical examination and receipt of a DOT Medical Examiner’s Certificate.
