
Business Development Specialist

Brown & Brown is seeking a Business Development Specialist to join our growing team in Doral, FL.
The Employee Benefits Business Development Specialist focuses on small business warm lead follow‑ups via phone and email. In this role, the specialist recommends coverage based on information from prospects/customers, follows up with each lead, advises on and quotes coverage, and completes the sale of appropriate policies. The position is responsible for new and renewal/marketing functions.
How You Will Contribute
Examines such documents as application forms, inspection reports, insurance maps, and medical reports to determine the degree of risk from factors such as applicant financial standing, age, occupation, accident experience, and value and condition of property.
Works with the Broker, ensuring that all required information is obtained, proper applications are completed, quotes and binders are confirmed in writing, and policies are issued promptly with appropriate state laws.
Provides full assistance and support within the Department.
Complies with Quality Control guidelines.
Orders inspections and handles them as needed.
Ensures coding on specific required forms is completed and utilized.
Fosters and improves relationships with other departments, producers, and companies.
Performs other duties as assigned.
Skills & Experience to Be Successful
A minimum of 2 years’ experience at an insurance brokerage is preferred, but a bright, talented candidate with other sales or consulting experience may also be considered.
A current Life and Health Agent license in the applicable state must be maintained.
Highly developed computer skills, including knowledge of word processing software such as Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
Energetic, highly motivated team player with strong interpersonal communication skills to interact with current and prospective clients and markets.
Detail oriented with excellent organizational skills.
Demonstrates a sense of urgency.
Develops and maintains a working knowledge of B&B systems.
Shows flexibility to meet the needs of clients through initiative and integrity.
