Responsibilities
Manage and oversee Fire Protection and Prevention programs and Law Enforcement and Emergency Services.
Perform a wide range of managerial tasks in planning, managing, directing and evaluating law enforcement operations.
Represent the garrison for law enforcement and fire protection/prevention matters to surrounding civilian communities.
Plan and coordinate activities of emergency services subordinate staff.
Manage current year budgets and forecast resources for fire, law enforcement and security for upcoming years.
Serve as the certifying official for the Individual Reliability Program (IRP) for assigned police officers and security guards, in accordance with AR 190-56.
Requirements
Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination following a background investigation.
Must obtain and maintain a TOP SECRET Security Clearance.
Must complete a pre‑appointment drug test (this is a TDP position subject to random drug testing). If not currently holding a TDP, must pass a drug test before appointment.
Must provide a pre‑employment financial disclosure in accordance with DoD Directive 5500-7-R, annually thereafter.
One‑year supervisory probationary period applies.
Must possess and maintain a valid driver’s license.
Appointment subject to a one‑year probationary period unless previously met.
Designated Mission Essential Position and Emergency‑Essential status.
Subject to Domestic Violence Offender Gun Ban provisions (Lautenberg Amendment).
Temporary Duty (TDY) or business travel of ~5% of time required.
Qualifications
Experience equivalent to the next lower grade level (GS‑13):
Providing base operation support services to military, civilian and contractor personnel.
Overseeing law enforcement and fire protection prevention programs.
Directing emergency response operations.
Developing innovative techniques for law enforcement, fire protection and security support.
Providing guidance and advice to program managers and installation leadership on emergency services.
Specialized experience: One year of specialized experience equivalent to the next lower grade level.

Time in Grade Requirement Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS‑13).
