Float Social Services Director Position Summary The Float Social Service Director plans, organizes, and directs the Social Services Department at assigned facilities in accordance with federal, state, and local regulations, facility policies, and administrative guidance. This role manages the full admissions and discharge process including referrals, tours, screenings, financial assistance, and individualized discharge planning. All while completing resident assessments, participating in care planning, and supervising social services staff. The Director provides emotional and psychosocial support to residents and families, assists with adjustment to facility life, and helps resolve escalated situations through proactive de‑escalation in collaboration with the interdisciplinary team. Additional responsibilities include contributing to policy development and strategic decision‑making, maintaining accurate documentation, ensuring regulatory compliance, participating in inspections and leadership meetings, and educating staff, residents, and families on rights, safety, and supportive services.
Qualifications
Licensure Requirement: Must hold a valid Minnesota license to practice social work.
Resident Care Insight: Must understand the psychosocial and emotional needs of residents.
Key Competencies: Requires strong communication, organization, management, and leadership skills.
Additional Qualifications: Must pass a criminal background check and preferably have experience in healthcare or long‑term care settings.
