
Steel/Concrete Structural Designer - Industrial

Position Overview
We are adding Structural Designers to our Industrial and Water Engineering Group to support a variety of engineering and construction projects. The role will involve working on diverse projects such as Data Centers, Water & Wastewater treatment plants, and Campus/Utilities/Industrial Energy facilities across North America. Candidates with 4–10 years of experience who have led designers or projects are encouraged to apply.
Location Position is located at Kiewit offices in Lone Tree, Colorado; Lenexa, Kansas; or Bloomington, Minnesota. Relocation assistance is offered to Lenexa or Lone Tree.
Responsibilities
Perform 3‑D designs of concrete, structural steel, modular steel, stick‑built, precast elements, rebar, foundations, pipe racks, tanks, platforms, buildings, connections, stairs, and other structures for industrial facilities using REVIT, MicroStation, AutoCAD, and Navisworks for clash detection.
Convert sketches, markups, and calculations into full detailed design drawings; create plans, sections, elevations, and details with correct dimensions, notes, and callouts; prepare construction drawing packages including schedules and connection details; perform quantity takeoffs for materials.
Collaborate with project teams in developing designs and construction documents, incorporating BIM practices and applications.
Develop and manage project information while ensuring compliance with development information and information‑management standards and policies.
Maintain project design documentation throughout all phases of design and construction.
Coordinate and communicate project details and specifications to the construction team through an integrated design process.
Work with project managers, engineers, and other designers to aid in project completion within schedule, budget, and quality constraints.
Work closely with the BIM team and stakeholders to meet project objectives.
Develop and check design deliverables in accordance with industry codes and standards, contract requirements, and company standards.
Navigate 3‑D models and check for interferences and constructability.
Support the construction team, including representing the design team on‑site, answering RFIs, and providing creative design solutions.
Qualifications
High school diploma or GED required; 4+ years of 3‑D modeling/structural design experience using REVIT (preferably), TEKLA, or MicroStation.
Experience with both concrete and steel structure design, including foundations, platforms, buildings, piping, tanks, precast elements, rebar, pipe racks, stairs, and connections. Modular steel experience is preferred. Experience designing for industrial facilities is required; experience with water/wastewater, campus/industrial energy, and data centers is a plus.
Minimum of 4+ years professional experience in Navisworks and Autodesk Docs, and proficiency in the MS Office suite.
Ability to read and understand construction documents and submittals.
Experience converting sketches, markups, and calculations into detailed design drawings, and strong preference for those adept at creating construction drawing packages.
Ability to understand and implement detailed project specifications and communicate effectively both in writing and verbally.
Experience designing foundations, platforms, pipe racks, tanks, and related structures used in industrial, water, or manufacturing facilities.

Compensation & Benefits Base Compensation: $73,000/yr – $76,000/yr. (Actual compensation may vary based on education, experience, skill set, and/or location.)
